My Problem with This Week At Bungie
My only real issue with This Week at Bungie is how they try to be cool and secretive about what they have planning. Like, guys, that's cool and all if you have some big coming the very next week, but otherwise it's a little pretentious. We know not to expect any paid DLC coming up and that Destiny 2 is just on the horizon so if you guys are just going to do another April Update-esque event and maybe revamp Crimson Doubles just say so.
If you don't have anything planned then don't tease and just admit, "Okay guys, this is it until D2, until then we hope to smoothen out Destiny as much as we can and continue our regular weekly updates. Thanks for sticking around." Cue MOTW, Iron Banner info, etc.
Just... being clearer would be appreciated. I have a lot of respect for Deej and Cozmo because I know they aren't told everything and they have to put up with the broadside of our complaints but I think just a little more transparency would be nice.
Edit: Of course the day I post this they start being a little more clear

Like whenever I try a login it says"" you have been disconnected from destiny servers your online capabilities may have changed or someone is signed in under your profile "" it's been like this since Thursday and my internet is good I can play other games perfectly .this dosnt exactly scream ban to me I tried all the other DNS and MTU fixes and nothing has worked

7 RepliesThey're not trying to be "cool". They're still working on new content and if they make promises that they have to go back on later, then people like you will be butthurt. There's no pleasing your kind, but the best I can do is try to explain it so you can disregard it and continue wanting everything right now and not understanding how development works.

Let's just pretend I made an awesome game like Bungie did with Destiny... Then, I revealed said game to be released at the end of 2017 during E3. Then when said game came out and everybody loved it even though there were issues. Then, over the course of the next 2 years the community slammed me every chance they got on every single little detail ie; weapon balance, pvp, pve, glitches, loot cave patches, reskins, vault space, and more importantly CUT CONTENT THAT WAS SOLD TO US FROM THE ORIGINAL GAME AS DLC, and the list goes on. All, or most of us are guilty of grinding through every single bit of content they give us in days that it takes a casual gamer months to do possibly and then complain about not enough content. Personally, I think everything from vanilla, tdb, how, ttk, and rise of iron should be up to the current light level standards. Every, weapon ever including exotics and raid weapons ever should be infusible up to current light. But that's just my opinion. This would extend replayability and the grind all of us Destiny Crackheads keep playing this game for. Anyways, I made an awesome game and it's better to be secretive, and selective on what is released to the community going forward, because someone out there is going to bitch, moan, and complain about something. I think it's a point of note that Deej and and maybe to extension Bungie has no concept of transparency. They'd rather keep you in the dark and filling you with false hope just so they can crush your expectations when they release what they have been hiding and it turns out to not be just that spectacular. Kind of like a reverse No Man's Sky I would say

Being around here for a long time, I can tell you the the 'secretive' part of Bungie is just their style. While the times are changing to be against this, the current middle ground they are on is just fine in my opinion. Bungie will only confirm things once they are set in stone, and otherwise just 'tease' them so we know they are working on it. Year 1 was an awful time, where Bungie was just secretive and unresponsive towards the community. They let problems build up and took little to no feedback, which was unacceptable. It is very obvious to me that they have focused on improving, and have improved, since The Taken King launched. Hopefully D2 will have a robust feedback system at launch as well.

6 RepliesThey're obviously not finished with the tweaks and don't to tell us everything then have to turn around and change it because of a problem. If they did that a hundred people would come to the forums say "Ommm You Lied!!!" People tend to see what they want to see. It's an evolving video game. Treat it as such. This next update will change the Meta and two weeks after that people will come to the forums crying for more nerfs. Happens every time. Everyone screams for balance but in a game like this with different perks, ttk's, maps and ranges it's going to take time. If it was that easy to do, it would have already been done. Patience is a Virtue. It's only a game.

I would appreciate more transparency, however, on the other hand I would rather know something is coming than not know at all. The real problem is that Bungie has made such a fun game, that we can't get enough. If they could put out a Rise of Iron dlc every week, it wouldn't be enough for some. Sometimes we need to take a step back and look at things realistically. We all enjoy the game, that's why we're here, but it's not realistic to expect more content a month after they launched new sizable content. Or to get news on future dlc they are still working the kinks out of a month after Rise of Iron.

2 RepliesThere is one thing, and one thing only, which Bungie prides itself on, and that is hype. Think back to every dlc announcement. Think about their trailers. They tease and hint for months about new content coming up... and it's always been a let down. They have nothing up their sleeve right now. They merely need to keep the bait in the water.
