Redeeming PS3 silver on the store gives only option for PS4?

I bought a gamecard with destiny silver, on the card itself it states that it's redeemable for PS3 and PS4, however when I enter the code (psn store and psn website) it gives me only the option to redeem it as a PS4 Addon, since I don't own destiny on a ps4, do I still get the silver if I select that option? Sony support was unable to assist me and pointed me here.
Beginning on August 16th, 2016, the majority of methods for purchasing Silver will be disabled for Legacy Consoles. This applies to the following ways to purchase Silver: - The in-game "Buy Silver" button in Eververse Trading Co. - PS3 Silver Add-Ons from the PSN Store on consoles or web browsers -Xbox 360 Silver Add-Ons from the Xbox Marketplace on consoles or web browsers Silver that was purchased prior to that time will still be available for use on Legacy Consoles.
https://www.bungie.net/en/Help/Troubleshoot?oid=44801

    • Since the PS3 is no longer being fully supported, silver purchases can only be done on the Xbox One and PS4. The only exception are the game cards for silver that specifically say PS3 only (These cards will be older, and if anyone has them, they're probably expired at this point, but I don't have such knowledge to say for sure or not), those are still redeemable on the PS3. If yours says it works on PS3 and PS4, then most likely the only option you'll have is the PS4, so no silver for you on the PS3 using that card. The retailer you purchased this card at should have informed you of this, but I can understand them not knowing since it said PS3/PS4. All that being said, if your card is actually redeemable on the PS3 (regardless of what I said above), then your best bet is to redeem it from your PS3 console, not on the PSN store on a computer or phone app. If you redeem it on the console itself and it still only gives you the option for PS4, then you are definitely out of luck. Good luck!
