House of Scar Ch. 25

If you missed the last chapter, it is conveniently placed here. If you want the trilogy (master thread), it is right here. Enjoy! I sat at the bridge of the Scarship Teriks-Fel, carving at a piece of stone. My new passengers were not from this present time. From my observations, I hypothesize the past, seeing their lack of knowledge on my race and this collapsed world. Perhaps they are from humanity's Golden Age? Only by questioning this Captain Clubber, I can get more answers. I wasn't sure whether to trust him and his crew of forty or not. They were in the meeting room at the time while I give my pilot servitor new orders. The Ketch was in orbit of Europa, at the time being. The atmosphere was fine, I just did not want them running around in my stronghold. This wasn't the only problem. The mission I set for myself has caused a distraction in rebuilding, and I must rebuild if I am to find and take on Attilis, Controller of the Eucin. From what I have read in the journals of the last members of old Scar, the Eucin are a mighty force. Winged, armor made of bone and weapons drawing from the Deep. The intelligence on Attilis in the data banks of the stronghold say that if he is dead, the Eucin will falter, scatter; they also say that he can be killed, but the Eucin would be difficult to get past. Nonetheless, I have to kill him for what he did to House Scar. His last known location, according to the former kell of Winter, Tasin, is just inland of the Shores of Time. After I find a worthy army to fight a force like this, I will provoke the Kell of Darkness, Attilis. I thought about recruiting Clubber and his crew as a start, but I would have to make a deal. I do not know the type of man Captain Clubber is, but I hope he's daring enough to accept the offer. "Captain, Vesrik is coming back." Corporal James Harris said. It's about time the beast showed up; he left us here for over an hour! Vesrik walked through the door that was clearly made to fit his size. He clicked for a second then said, "My apologies, Captain Clubber... for the wait. I had to contemplate, for I am not used to having time travelers aboard my ship." I replied, "Apology accepted, your majesty. Now, where is a place you could drop us off?" The kell waited, as if hesitant to say what he wished. "Actually, I wish to make a deal with you. Hopefully it's not too much to ask since I saved you?" Although I was not looking to make a deal, I've seen Vesrik's capabilities. "Depending on the bargain, we might see to an arrangement." "Good, good! Hopefully this is something that can benefit both parties, yes? Here is my proposal: there is a creature, once like I, that I have been trying to track. He destroyed my House, making us nothing but memory...", Vesrik sneered with disgust, hesitating to speak. He said with a hint of anger, "His name is Attilis, Kell of sky's end. He commands an alien force called the Eucin, and that is why he was able to bring down my house. I wish to recruit you as the first step to making an army worthy enough to bring him down." I did not like the sound of that. Vesrik was mighty, and a being with an force able to take down an army greater than what Vesrik was and has? No, thank you! My end of the deal will have to be really good, if I'm going to be a part of his army. "Alright, now what is in it for the crew and I?" "I will compensate you with 100,000 in glimmer, and I shall take you to the safest human settlement left. You say you are of Future War Cult, yes? They exist there, in the Last City. From what I know of their beliefs, they will be interested to hear how you ended up in our present, will they not?" This was actually a credible and even deal, and the fact that the FWC is still in existence makes me find new hope for us. But I didn't plan on following through with the deal; I have plenty of glimmer that my crew took from the stores after our ship crashed, and I can find out where the Last City is. "Where would this 'Last City' be?" I asked with fake curiosity. Vesrik replied, "What you call 'the Traveler' hovers just above it." The Eliksni clicked with laughter. "Hardest object to miss on the planet." Easy enough to remember, seeing how in our present, that was the same case. "Your highness, I will need some time to think about this. Your offer is highly appreciated; we just need some time to take this new world in." "Of course, Captain. I will be in bridge if you need me." Vesrik left the meeting room and headed elsewhere. Corporal Harris asked, "Are we going to accept his offer, captain?" I replied, "No. We are going to get off of this ship. I already know the way to the hangar, we should be able to go from there." My crew looked at me and surprise, and a lieutenant, Shela, said, "Captain, you wish to run from him? He has this whole ship and it's defenses next to him! Not to mention, he's massive!" I laughed and said, "We will get off before he knows it! Those ships have stealth tech, remember? We're going to leave, and that's final!" The crew was hesitant, but they did not stand up to me. "Alright then, let's move to the hangar!" Once we reached the hangar, we realized we would have to take two. Forty men and women would not fit onto just one of the skiffs. "Officer Mason, take half the crew on that one, I'll take the other to the one on the far left." All of my first officer's crew were on board his ship, and just as mine were about to board, I heard an Eliksni voice bellow from across the hangar. "Stop!" I looked in fear, and told my crew, "Get on, now! Faster, faster!" Vesrik was sprinting, and despite his size, he could cover large distances. I was the last to get on, and Vesrik was only 60 meters behind us. Before I boarded he called out, "Please, captain! Do not steal that ship!" "Go, go! Corporal Harris, take us out of here!" The skiff's engines started and the corporal brought us up. The hangar was open and both skiffs were headed out. I looked back to see Vesrik staring both ships down, grimacing. I knew this was not going to be the last we saw of the Kell of Scar.
