Have there been any guardians chosen from the living?

Good day everyone. Let's get right to it. As we all know, guardians are chosen from the dead and put into service for the traveler for the good of human kind. We revive, we die, revive again, and keep fighting. The oldest guardians being Saladin and Efrideet. But have there been any among the living, chosen to wield the light as a weapon? In short, yes there has. In fact, the story of Thorn and The Last Word tell us. In the grimoire cards for the Last Word, we see the world through the eyes of Shin Malphur, a hunter who killed Dredgen Yor. Why does he matter? Because Shin's ghost, used to be Jarens. After Jarens light was snuffed, the ghost chose Shin to avenge him. This means he's the first guardian we know of currently chosen from the living. Whether or not he's still around in the city is debatable. But have there been others chosen among the light? Those who can wield it without having been dead first? I hope so, it might give us so much more story potential in Destiny 2. What are your thoughts? Do you know if anyone else could've been chosen from the living? Don't hesitate! Edit: The Muzzy is here!
There may be others. Ghost Fragment: The Dark Age seems to suggest that a good number of the first Guardians were chosen from the living.
They came from the wild lands, gathering in secret enclaves, slipping through the howling ruins of shattered cities, hoping to find the coast, find a ship, pick up the trail of an impossible dream. From the deep black came the Awoken, their eyes haunted. Exos marched in the refugee columns, cloaked in moss and shattered memories. And among them came the Ghosts, beginning their search.

• The prospect of living Guardians implies that at some point, Ghosts had to switch to using the dead. And that itself implies there's a reason behind it. After all, if Ghosts can use the living to make Guardians, our small numbers would be much less of a problem. But something tells me something went wrong, in choosing the living. My guess is that with living Guardians, they have relationships and pasts that might interfere with their duties. Their personalities and free will might complicate their positions as Guardians, whether it be their political/religious views, or their desire to put themselves at risk. Overall, using a living person might have brought too many "complications" to a Guardian. With the dead, though, any relationships they might've had died long ago. They have no memory of their past life, or their past selves. They're entirely different people, which allows the Light to shape them into proper Guardians. Obviously, it's not a foolproof system, as there have been wayward/corrupted Guardians before (Toland, Osiris, Dredgen Yor, Eris, etc.). But the risk of "complications" is drastically less when using the dead than the living.
