Hey everyone!
Today is the day, just like every year before, that a lot of "Little Lights" will be joining our ranks, both on B.net and out on the Frontier. Do what you can to welcome them. Teach them the right ways to fire a Golden Gun or unleash a Nova Bomb. There will be a bunch of them out there, so give them a hand!
It wasn't all that long ago that you or I were new to Destiny. If you started in the Alpha/Beta, in Year One, Year Two, or Year Three, it doesn't make a difference. You're a Guardian. You're one of us. Help those who are just discovering their Light so that they, too, can fight against the Darkness.
Happy Dawning!
Edit: Destiny veterans: What is one thing you'd recommend to every new player?

My wife is one of them. She played with some of my clanmates on my account and asked for her own Xbox for Christmas. Just be aware that they give all noobs a spark of light to hit lvl 40. So if you see a lvl 40 that appears lost its probably a Christmas noob.

Git gud

Spark of light

Edited by SGTBrownT: 12/28/2016 10:43:04 AMPlayed since beta. Pushed through the suck for almost 3 years. Spent hundreds of dollars for My family to play it. My advice
Get a better experience. For free. Go download
WARFRAME
and see what the originally advertised "expansive PvE fpsmmo" - Destiny - wished it was.
Dismantle your Matador, it's trash
-
one thing I recommended is don't listen to all the trolls, have fun.
-
Play the patrols daily. Get your rank ups. Find friends to play with. Work on completing all the story missions Run strikes Have fun. I have been playing Destiny for a long time and my son and I still play every chance w3 get.
-
Santa: "What would you like for Christmas?" Kid: "I want a 2+ year old video game that requires a bunch of dlc's to play the current content."
-
Throwing young Guardians into the hostilities of this war with no expectation of them surviving seems so typical of the Vanguard, I've seen way too many of our youths think this war is a place they belong, do true Guardians a favor and let bungie know it's time they were up front, this isn't a game for children.

I have a few hours in and personally. A recommendation to new players would be to get your money back. Trade in value or whatever. PvE is a constant everyone gets a ribbon leveling system and P2P is a stupid way to run both sides of the game. Avoid getting hooked on weapons that become useless by design only to get a reskin of the same thing in the future. The game was great for 2 years then it fell apart.

Edited by ValusDanijel: 12/26/2016 12:03:33 PMIf people are still getting destiny as a Christmas gift they must be broke as hell. This game is 3 years old with no new content and dried like old peoples elbows. I have one tip if you are the unfortunate kid who got this crap for Christmas.... Sell it and buy yourself some gum you'll get more out of that then this game.
-
I'd be pissed at Santa for buying me y3 Destiny. Games been so bad since year 1 :(
-
Honestly..? When in doubt just keep shooting... if doubt persists watch others I'd rather wipe once so you could watch what I'm doing with any of the relics or how I approach certain enemies than over and over because youre too focused on that dreg you can't snipe.

As a Destiny player since beta, my one piece of advice is: Make your own opinions about the game. And above all else, Stay off the forums
-
Year 1 Player: "Yeah, my VERY FIRST exotic was Read Death from VoG" Iron Pup: "My very first exotic was Young Wolf's Howl! Also, what is the Bog?"
-
To whom it may concern, this is my advice, don't be unsatisfied with the content you get it's a matter of enjoying the game for what it has, I've been playing a relatively long time so I've been through all the stupid shenanigans you'll probably hear through the community. An example being 2 Shot Thorn and Final Round on hit impact snipers (I'm looking at your Efrideet). The crucible is frustrating but it's just fine in my opinion. Good luck in the new world of Destiny and I hope y'all meet the light requirements soon for the raids

Don't tell them about the forklift horror. It's rated R
-
Id like to request a selection. The Carpenters " We've Only Just Begun " .................. Thank You
-
I will tell you that in b.net never post destiny stuff in Offtopic. Speaking of Offtopic stay away from that place if you are afraid of getting into arguments and most of the toxicity of this site seeped to that place.

Edited by Darth Lunchbox: 12/27/2016 2:08:55 PMWatched a group of vets crab (crouch) walk chase a "Little Light" all over the tower last night for 10 mins. Had to be annoying as hell.
-
Mega cringe
-
Spam game invites to randoms in the tower and not tell them what you want help with.
-
No they ruin strikes and everything. Day 1 is the only acceptable player.
i just made a new titan and I'm running into these little shits everywhere I go. Can't do a strike without year 3 noobs who boosted to 40 and still can't Jackshit but piss me off
What would I recommend? Going back to GameStop and exchanging the game for one that wasn't developed to be compatible with legacy consoles, just to have them removed and leave the current gen owners stuck with the legacy leftovers. Get something that was developed for 2016, not 2007. Maybe something that doesn't copy the business model of a F2P game with the worst connection/matchmaking system I've seen in an online multiplayer.
-
I will welcome them to one of the greatest games of the decade, ask if they need any help, and help them understand the basics of Destiny (bounties, quests and how to track them, and how inventory items work). Crucible aside, this game will be an amazing experience for first timers! The amount of content they will have to explore will be a bit overwhelming no doubt. I have my disappointments just like everyone else- but I would be a hypocrite if I didn't say I got more than my money's worth from this game!

No one with a brain is buying this shit game for Christmas, especially now when it's nearly over/dying.
