Am I the only one who doesn't generally replay longer games?

Yeah, I don't tend to go back to larger games to play the main story through again. Maybe that's what happens when you're raised on a diet of linear scifi shooters like Halo, Portal, BioShock, and Gears, but I've never once felt the urge to replay Skyrim, GTAV, any of the Assassin's Creeds... It just feels like such an effort to play through them the first time that I don't have the time to do it again. Yet I will replay the Halos and BioShocks and Portals, etc. Maybe because they are comparatively short sharp blasts, and also perhaps because they're so compact relative to the sprawling RPGs or action-adventures that it feels like a trip down memory lane rather than exploring a huge place I'm only vaguely familiar with. I ticked post a poll, where are my poll options? Yes, I marked this topic as a poll, where are the options for me to fill in? Thanks, Bungle, I can't post this as a poll.

  • I understand that feeling quite well, I tend now to be less likely to replay games of that length. Often in the past I would and get bored about halfway through depending on the raised difficulty or the game itself. Exceptions have only really been fallout, witcher and Elder scrolls.

  • When I was younger and had more game time, I'd replay the few games I owned over and over. Now with so little game time, and so so many games, I am lucky to complete any, nevermind a replay! Lol!

  • From what I've gathered in my time on the Internet, it's actually extremely uncommon for people to replay longer games regularly, they just talk about it more often than non-replayers..

  • Im on my 5th playthrough of The Witcher 3 (full deathmarch), my 8th of Dragon Age Inquisition (multiple characters), and my 4th on Dark Souls...all of them...including Bloodborne. I love replaying games to catch new things. Hell, I do it for linear games as well.

  • I played Skyrim for well over 300 hours on the 360, so I am not like you in this aspect.

I played through The Witcher 3 three times, so...yeah. Then again, that's one of my favorite games I've ever played, so that's why. On the other hand, I couldn't even get through GTA V once.

      • I don't normally replay long games either. Those things are like novels to me, one and done. However, I will return to the game if it contains DLC like Witcher 3 for example. One of the best games ever IMO.

      • I can never be bothered to replay long games such as TES or Fallout as it's well boring having to level back up, re-do quests I've done and find all my favourite gear again. The only single player games I've ever replayed to any great extent are the Halo campaigns (CE to ODST), which I have multiple playthroughs on, and Dark Souls 1-3 where I'll happily NG+ several times :)

      • Depends. Also, how are you able to replay portal? Puzzle games are only good for one play through.. Unless you forget all the puzzles.

            • I generally don't replay large scale games either. However, that's due to the fact that I try to experience every aspect of most large games that I possibly can before I stop playing it entirely.

            • I'll go back for sandbox fun like in fallout, but after I've done the story I usually won't do it again. Except in souls games, I'll play those story's any day.

            • I honestly don't replay any games unless they are designed to do so (IE: Diablo/Borderlands)

I like going back to my old favorites every so often... They're made for replying though (crash, Spyro, Gex, ape escape...) Nothing longer. I might replay Okami, too. It was so good!

              • I replay long games but take long breaks in between. RPGS like Skyrim, Dragon Age, and Final Fantasy require players to invest a lot of time, especially those of us who like to do extra stuff besides the main story.

              • Depends on the type of game. Right now I'm replaying Dishonored 2 for the 5th time now, still learning different paths and combinations to go about each level.

                • I mean I bet nearly all of the younger generation shares the view. I prefer long games though, grew up playing everquest2, which back in the day you needed to set aside a few hours to play at one sitting if you wanted to get anything important done.

                  • Depends on the game. I'm always down to replay Paper Mario TTYD.

                  • It's never the same after the first time. The only game I was able to play more than once was BL2 and I beat that shit at least 40-50 times

                  • It really depends on the game. Just going with fairly recent titles I beat Uncharted 4 once and it's now on my Trophy Shelf where I will probably never touch it. With Fallout 4 I beat it twice to see Railroad & Institute endings. However I deleted the Institute saves and focused on Railroad character for side quests and all the DLCs. Going a bit farther back I beat Mass Effect 2 twice for Extreme Paragon & Renegade endings. Skyrim I only officially beat twice but had 5 separate characters with dozens of hours logged in.

I will almost never replay a single player portion of a game. It's ywars before I do it again. Half Life 2 for example I beat it probably like 5 years ago and I decided a month ago to play it again. The only thing I ever have gone back to is Halo 2/3/ and ODST campaigns. And RPGs I'll get tired of doing the quests that make you find stuff and bring it back. Then go kill everything I find then quit

                  • Mass Effect Trilogy (if they count) are the only games I'll do this with.
