Like how meta weapons are always used in crucible and if you don't use them you'll pretty much get dominated ? PVE is pve you don't have to use anything. People just require shit for pure convenience mainly to do more DPS. As far is crucible is concerned thats up to the meta , but regardless people will always have requirements , and some guns will always outperform all the others regardless . Elemental primaries only shined in one activity and thats nightfalls , all they do is remove shields faster from enemies without the burn active thats it , its the perks that out shinned other weapons . and bungie leaves them behind because what ? "everyone " used them? Oh like the same eay everyone used the vex ? Suros ? Thorn? Last word ? Gjallarhorn? Dark drinker ? Spindle ? Malice ? Hawksaw? Mida ? Messanger ? Clever dragon? Metador ? Felwintets lie ? 1,000 yard stare when they were all in their prime state. Yet majority of those guns still exist All nerfed though, only things that were scrapped all together was year 1 weapons ( raid , prison, trials , banner ) yet they bring back a good portion ( vendor weapons ) Including some Of the most o.p , some guns from year 1 stiill shining most o.p ( metador , longbow , ghallarhorn, last word . As of now every weapon that was an endgame reward from the raid , trials , banner , even prison are scrapped and because of elemtal primaries ? Because people required it on LFG? Meanwhile in destiny ms current state if you still don't have ghallarhorn , exotic swords and many god rolled weapons you are excluded from groups to this day . So the whole logic of removing elemental primaries and reforging was only made to increase playtime and artificial difficulty, not because they were superior. If a gun is truly outperforming that leads to a nerf , not for the gun to be scrapped completely. Because bungie has the ability to change all and any perk on any gun and the way they work, they can easily bring back all the content that was scrapped but chose not to . The same way they chose to bring majority of it back , but not all .

I agree with you that this comment should have never been made if they weren't going to roll every gun/armor forward until the end of time. However, having said that if you think about it that's not really realistic and if you look at other similar games, mainly MMOs like WoW (not that I m calling Destiny a flat out MMO even though it should go more in that direction), every time there is a big expansion with new content which includes a raid and level increases the old gear becomes obsolete and just memorabilia. So they aren't doing anything new by leaving old gear behind in this type of game. Where Bungie messed up is, when they left old gear behind, mainly year 1 gear, they didn't make viable replacements the further along they went AND the content got easier and easier. These 2 things made new gear seem less and less appealing. For example, Crota's End raid gear was pretty good, Black Hammer, Word of Crota, Oversoul Edict, etc. At least they kept elemental damage on primaries and this gear was useful when they dropped House of Wolves. But they failed with TTK and Black Spindle and Touch of Malice only felt important in a few situations. I only pulled Touch of Malice out of the vault for 2 specific boss fights. I also hold Found Verdict as the standard and subconsciously compare every shotgun to it. I miss Fatebringer so I use Image loop all the time but it's not quite the same. Black Spindle was their "replacement" for Icebreaker and Black Hammer, but the content wasn't wasn't hard enough or there weren't enough situations to make it feel as powerful as Icebreaker. Add to it the fact that since year one it is so easy to get the best gear that everyone has everything and nothing seems powerful or rare. How many times did we use to run VoG praying for a Vex, or Fatebringer, and how many people were still trying to get their first Gjallarhorn to drop even when we were doing the Crota raid? These days exotics fall in your lap on a daily basis especially with the use of 3 of Coins, and you can easily get your hands on pretty much any gun in the game with little effort.

You can use them anywhere and everywhere you want, but they are not part of current content or endgame content by that stretch. If you want to be good in those area's? You need to use the Y3 weapons and armors. I still have a lot of guns from Y1 and Y2, but the new content is not about our old content and by extension, not about making a Y3 vex which can be used in Trials or IB. But it can be used in normal crucible, same as the armors and such from any point in time and you can patrol with those weapons.

I concur...really worried that Destiny 2 is going to be even worse and reset everything, only to make us earn back all the exact same loot again!!!

Technically bungie didn't lie. The old weapons and gear aren't obsolete, you can still use them in pvp, old raids, and strikes at low levels. ;) I'd like to add that bungie made the mistake of making the best of the best early on in weapons and armor. Then they realized they couldn't really do better than that, so they made useless perks and in turn less lovable weapons.
