Is No Land Beyond becoming meta?

Before I start, I'll state this right up front: I am a NLB user, and I have been since sometime before Y2. I didn't start off good at it, but I got better. I still use it by bringing it into Crucible all the time, and even using it in trials. I convinced my friends to use the NLB back in Y2, so now we all use NLB just for fun. However, as time went by, we started to notice more people using NLB. When Y3 started, I would say we would find one NLB user every day. Not really noticeable. However, this turned into one every few games. We kind of started to take note of it, and joked around about NLB becoming Meta. But every since the last Iron Banner week, we have been seeing one NLB user every game. In my opinion, I think this is absolutely hilarious. Out of all guns that could be Meta. I understand that right now the Crucible is being overrun by the Clever Dragon, Strikers and shotguns, but I'm only suggesting that the NLB could be making a slow rise to the top. Note: I am writing this from the perspective of an Xbox player. It may be different on the PlayStation. I have no idea. Edit: I've noticed that a lot of people have been complaining about how the NLB wasn't affected by the sniper flinch nerf a while back. Now personally, I think that it was good that they didn't include the NLB. I know that may seem like a biased opinion, since I absolutely love the NLB, but I'm speaking from as much of a neutral standpoint as I can. The NLB should not be nerfed or buffed. Right now, it's in a perfect position. The NLB has a huge learning curve to it, but once it's mastered, it's a deadly weapon. But just like Cozmo said, it is a high risk/reward weapon. Because of its difficulty to use, I think the skill to use it should be very well rewarded. Let's also keep in mind that even when mastered, the NLB isn't a god weapon that kills everything with one button click; it's still difficult to get kills with it. Edit 2: A possible reason why the NLB wasn't affected by the flinch nerf could be that when you are actually flinched while ADS with the weapon, the NLB's barrel actually rises on your screen, almost covering the guy you're shooting at. Imagine how it would be like if the flinch would be increased on that thing! Edit 3: I'm a little disappointed by how people are replying to Cozmo. To be honest if I was in his shoes, I wouldn't want to go and coddle every single person who cries for a stupid nerf. And the fact that people are seriously saying 'You guys ruined the game!' and 'Fix the game!' is ridiculous. For one: Cozmo didn't ruin the game. Two: neither did bungie. The community ruined the game. Bottom line.
I know that was unrelated to the main topic of the post, but I had to throw that in there.
• I love the NLB it is my favourite gun hands down me and 2 of my other friends always have 1v1s and 1v1v1s with it's so fun. I am not the best at sniping but nlb has helped me improve a lot. I always love hitting quickscopes and no scopes with it.

  • Well, actually if Bungie didn't -blam!- up in the first place, nerfs wouldn't have been needed. Did the community: -Make Suros OP as -blam!-? -Make the Vex the God weapon? -Give snipers final round one-shot in the pinky toe and kill you? -Give shotguns fusion rifle ranges? -Make thorn a two shot and bye bye kill? I'm pretty sure Bungie -blam!-ed up a little bit too.

  • Nlb is perfect as is. It's hidden exotic perk is that you get to use it in a primary slot

      • It needs to be buffed! This gun should be able to res snipe and snipe people out of supers. As a gun which can claim to be the high skill gun to master, it should be useable in all situations.

        • People are people and a humans greatest natural trait is adaptation with logic and practice. People are using NLB because they are becoming good with NLB, its the players not the gun. Plus its a one shot, and people love instant rewards aka satisfaction.

          • I'm a big fan of NLB. It's definitely one of the more fun guns to use with a high risk/reward.

            • Only snipe that has no flinch and close scopes. + can run shotty or sidearms (which are more consistent and virtually same damage output as TLW). So yup.

              • Well, you just brought even more attention to it. Guess I'll go ahead and create my future post here for when Bungie announces that it'll get nerfed.
I guess it's No Land Beyond's turn to get nerfed. People are starting to notice that it's actually pretty good and not awful like people always said. Universal Remote all over again. No gun is safe. xD In other news, I quit. I'm drawing the line here. You're going to break my happiness when it gets nerfed just like you did when Universal Remote got nerfed. Goodbye, all. -jumps out of window- -walks away unharmed- It was the first-floor window...
• This is a little bit of a tangent but does anyone think queenbreakers bow should be a primary instead of a special. I have found that it is effective at all ranges and would pair really well with a side arm. I'm bringing this up because playing with queenbreakers reminds me of playing with nlb. Thoughts?

                • People bi)tching about NLB being op need to use it. Not just on large open maps but on close quarter maps too. If I see someone running a NLB I make sure they know how to use it. It also isn't very hard to counter, most using it try to hard scope drag shot you when you move in on them. It's got snapshot for a reason😄.

                • Bungie compensated NLB a long time ago. At first, it was a poop sniper. And then Bungie boosted the accuracy, so even when you shoot 2 meters next to someone, you get a kill. The same like in old CoD's 360's. The only problem is that the NLB's accuracy is RNG. Seen many YT video's, where players think they are pro's. But when you play/ pause the video's, then you see that the most shots even weren't hits.

                • They need more flinch on nlb maybe not same as all other snipers but it needs more. Ppl are basically getting around the flinch nerf by using this gun

                  • The gun needs more flinch. Idk why people say its hard to use. Its not. Its easy and mixing it with a shotgun makes an OP combo. Queensbreaker also needs to be looked at.

                    • It's because shotguns are the meta but ppl still like to snipe. Also the no flinch thing on the NLB helps counter the thousands of HCRs flooding the crucible via the Dragon.

I run a Defender Titan with NLB in Trials. I started this about a month ago. I go flawless with it multiple times every weekend and it's a god damn blast! My viewers on my YouTube Gaming stream have gone up exponentially as well since people really love watching a NLB user in action! That said, as stated somewhere else in this thread it can't really be a META weapon. The curve on it is to hard. I've run into some other NLB users who literally couldn't have shot the wall if they tried. It takes a ton of practice and gives you a huge reward... but it comes with a great risk as well. Also, just look over the numbers. While you may "feel" it's META, still less than 2% of kills come from NLB in Trials.

                    • Too high of learning curve for it to become meta

Nah. NLB is decent, but the extremely high learning curve and high-risk nature of the gun prevents it from being a "meta" weapon. You have to have extremely disciplined aim and a very deep understanding of NLB to make it work. Meta weapons are the standard to which other weapons' capabilities are measured up against when it comes to deciding if a gun is consistently viable in PvP.

I imagine that newer players are trying it out, or experienced players have recently used it and make it look easy. Can't say that I know why people are doing it, but I don't think it'll last very long. No Land Beyond is a difficult weapon to use, it takes a lot of patience and time to get the hang of it.
