1 ReplyWell duh. Google has pretty much a monopoly on the information we receive these days. They bought Facebook, they bought YouTube. Google has its own OS and brand of computers. People google everything, from the latest news about Syria to the directions to your nearest spa resort. If someone at Google wanted us to not see something, it would be pretty easy to hide it from us, given how deep google is rooted in our everyday lives.

5 RepliesEdited by Dr Livingston 9: 11/18/2016 2:35:13 AMthey are not going to ban fake news there going to ban news that sheds liberals in a bad light or does not fit there narative. they will call real news "fake" as a reason to limit news stories that dont fit there political ideology. its called censorship. when i bring up news that the main stream media has not talked about some of the people i know say its fake. i say how do you know. have you even looked into it. what will happen is they will censor so much that if it did not come from fox or cnn it never happened. the media is going full force with brainwashing. they dont report stories any more they just push propaganda. if this is taken too far they will police the internet. and you will need a liscense to own or start a website the whole world will be like north korea and china!!!

So I don't think it'd be too much of a stretch to say that Facebook has the power to influence the opinions of large groups of people. Closer to home for me here in the United States in 1945 the Smith-Mundt act was passed so that the American people would never be subjected to state sponsored materials created with the purpose of propagandizing the citizenry. Fast forward 67 years. The Smith-Mundt Modernization Act of 2012 (part of the National Defense Authorization Act) has repealed the domestic prohibition, allowing the government's broadcasting to be directed at/created for Americans for the first time in almost 70 years. Sadly since the advent of the internet that carried the hope of creating a new age of true and factual information also brought with it the capacity to disseminate falsehoods, misleading, and flat out lies claiming legitimacy worldwide. It's my hope that someday many nations of the world propose legislation to stem the tide against those that seek to propagandize the peoples of the world. Edit: Misspellings etc etc etc.
