Thorn: Buff or Bust

Buff.

Bust.

So recently, after completing my weekly bounties from Shiro i received the thorn quest. You should have heard the jealous remarks from my friends, the collective groans echoed in the archons forge all the way to the tower. But after completing the quest and getting my hands on the long awaited thorn i was... disappointed. The TTK of the thorn is longer then any other hand cannon I've used. Lets do some math (please hold sarcastic claps) So in pvp thorn can kill in about 3 head shots hitting about 59 damage at optimal range or about 4 body shots hitting about 26 damage at optimal range. Every hit does 2 damage with the thorn perk. Meaning hitting 3 body shots (78 damage) with the thorns poison perk (2 damage every 5 seconds) will do about 88 damage. "That's not to bad" i hear you say but lets look at... say... palindrome. palindrome hits about 64 damage per body shot, meaning in 3 shots it does 192 damage. a quick and easy kill at optimal range. So, why should i go through the effort of grinding tedious bounties every week when for a messily 150 legendary marks i can buy a hand cannon dealing 2x the damage. "but thorn was so OP in year one, its a crutch" true, but here is my counter argument to this, This is not year one. In year one, you could snipe from cross map with hawkmoon and drop a kid faster then a sack of bricks. Since then, things like bloom and a range Nerf to all the hand cannons sort of put an end to that... "but then everyone will just use thorn and crucible wont be any fun" Yea, true. Because crucible is such a diverse place for play styles and player preferences. (Sarcasm implied) "but thorn doing 7 DOT is 2op4me" well that we can agree upon. 7 damage for 5 seconds per shot may be a bit much but doing 2 damage per hit is completely unnoticeable. so lets compromise: how about 4 damage per second for 5 seconds without artifact. and 2 damage per second for 5 seconds with artifact. in short, i want thorn to be reasonably usable. i don't want it to "make thorn great again" i just want it to be worth the effort put in to get it. i don't think that's to much to ask, is it? If you have a exotic perk that does virtually nothing towards the weapons use or play style is it even a exotic perk? I leave it to you community, Buff this weapon back to usability? or Bust and let the exotic be?
