What is the point of Exo genders?
They are AI. Very advanced AI, but still. What is the point of them having genders? Exo females have ..... you know. Why? Is there a reason for that? Or is Bungie needlessly sexualizing females? Or the males; do they have a..... thing? If so, why would they need it?
Please give me your thoughts. Also, bump so Bungie can see this and make a card for it or something.

I'm fairly certain that most, if not all Exos were originally humans who transferred their minds to an immortal machine body. Makes sense they'd be more comfortable with a body matching their gender.

Seeing as those their frames are still made to look sexually appealing, I'm sure they accommodate a sexual device as well. If they were actually war machines they would not be built to feel pain, but they can, they can feel everything a human can to be exact, emotions, pain and pleasure(physical and emotional). I think that they werent intended as war machines, but their endurance is a great attribute to the role that needs to be filled as a protector of the city Ana bray also refers to exo reproduction as reduntand. But she never said it wasent possible, implying intercourse still occurs, but due to their mechanical nature, they can't reproduce. Since they are programed to feel everything a human does, pain emotion, pleasure, and the 5 senses and even the 6th. My guess is that their mechanical nature means they just hook up to one another and transmit pleasurable feeling and admiration for one another. It's kinda like uploading a pleasurable feeling to your mate in a way. And the Downloader feels the pleasure feelings being uploaded. and they just do that to one another Like demo man

Exos aren't ai, they're human souls in a robot body. Cayde for example was some sort of merc when he was in a human body.

Droids in Star Wars have male or female programming: voice is the most obvious thing, but there might be other aspects as well. Kind of the same principle here. Since Exos were once human, maybe they preferred retaining their gender after transformation... it is an important part of your identity after all.

Well the humans who signed up to be exos used to be diverse so it would make sense to put them into bodies that mimicked their old ones.

Because while originally intended as just an advanced kind of frame they ended up being used as proxy bodies, and later in experimentations with the transfer of consciousness to a robotic body. If you were to become a robot, wouldn't you like your body to at least be vaguely familiar? So female mind transfers were put in female looking bodies and males into male looking bodies.
