Are updates secretly designed to mess up older devices?
This goes for game consoles, phones, and just about any other devices. I have 2 friends at work that swear that apple and google add special shit to their new updates to slow down and mess up older phones, just so that you run out and buy the new phone.
I haven't found any proof on this, but what do you think? If it's true, do you think M$ and Sony do the same thing with consoles in any way?

No, it's just that new updates may only work with new systems. The iPhone 3 for example can't play a lot of games on the App Store because they are more demanding for the hardware.
