I think destiny should work on bringing both elements together.
Example: World of Warcraft's Alterac Valley BG
In this example they have elements of pvp but on the side, it had pve elements to accomplish if your not that great at pvp. The things to take away from Alterac Valley is: Map size, player size, tug of war elements, pvp/pve elements, side quests, npc support, and a boss fight on each end.
With those elements in place, destiny could make a big zone map, much larger team sizes, and objectives to defeat the other teams boss/leader.
Another example: smite/dota/HoTS
Smaller player teams, but includes npc support and the map size is not as big as Alterac valley but still big enough to give everyone an advantage.
I know it's hard to make with the destiny elements of being a shooter game. But I think this would be a fun element to play with.

I wouldn't mind the enemies making forays into Crucible maps... Actually, you could replace the ammo crates with enemies. Want some heavy? Go kill that ogre.
-
Already made in Titanfall 2 and BF1. Good luck holding your breath, waiting on bungo.
-
you sure need to reread what you wrote and then think over WHY this such a TERRIBLE idea. open world pvp is the WORST f*cking thing in the existence of gaming.
-
Its called the Division........go play that!
-
Hell no. It's bad enough we have to deal with the pvp people as it is let alone like this. Both parts should be totally separate with their own bounties and no interaction.
-
So how about: The big pvp maps. Bastion and Co. 6v6v6 elimination - alpha bravo Charlie teams Each team has a blind ogre similar to the wretched eye strike - colour coordinated for the team by a flag on its back or something It can be damaged. Periodically, the hive will send in tomb ships jam packed with acolytes, knights, thrall and wizards attempting to reclaim the ogres. To win, you must eliminate all members of the other two teams and their ogres, then wipe out the hive. They could have similar battles for cabal, fallen, vex and taken as well as any other enemies destiny gets in the future. Thoughts?
-
Other Example: TESO (Cyrodiil) [Hope i wrote it correct.]
-
I think a better way to handle this would be similar to how ESO handles PVP. Have a planet dedicated to a PvP/PvE zone were you could go and play against other players of each faction if you wanted to but you could also get special weekly quests from NPC's that had to be completed on that planet and offered better than normal drops. That would accomplish two goals imo. It would make your choice of faction actually mean something and it would give casual PvP players a chance to shine outside of the crucible. But hey that's just my two cents. Take it for what you will.
-
So warzone?
-
No! They tried something like this with The Division and it turned out to create super powerful troll teams that spend their waking life playing the game just to terrorize and kill everyone for the hell of it. Unless you aspire to be a troll that does nothing but grief players then this is a bad idea.
-
Are you talking something similar to what halo has?
-
Yeah, and they should call it the Ballad of Sniperhaven because literally everyone would use snipers and scout rifles in it. Brilliant Idea muchacho!
-
The top clan would have so much firepower that they'd block out the sun with a sea of truth rockets No heavy, please.
-
It'd be more popular than what's now. It's a fantastic idea.
Theyll ignore your feedback, but I'd still support it regardless of Bungie not caring. 👍🏻
-
Bump. Bungie should take notes on Star Wars: Battlefront 20v20.
-
And the pvp would be faction based. Lit
-
I think this idea world be great. Having a battle ground would be amazing but the reason bg's work so well in wow is because of tanks and healer. The divisions darkzone was close to what you are talking about and it was great in some aspects and a giant failure in others. If a BG type of element were to work I think it would need to be more pve focused with pvp enabled.

1. Sounds like Halo 5 Guardians Warzone. The thing that makes it such a viable idea for that game is the large vehicle/weapon selection set up. While destiny has a ton of guns, they still basically all are autorifles, pulse rifles, snipers, ect. there isn't the kind of fun you get for having 30+ different types of guns period. 2. DOTA is NOT a shooter based gametype, imagine trying to convicne your teammates to play strategically when people like me still exist, I still have my icebreaker and my instant invis setup for my hunter. I would literally wait for players and slaughter them. All of them. I would become efficient at sniping fools outta sparrows and I would never play the objective when i knew i could camp for fun.
-
The only problem is how warzone only works in halo 5 because of how hard it is to get snipers. In destiny, where everybody has a sniper, you will be getting sniped left and right.
-
Alterac Valley has been "zerg rush the opposition leader" with no one doing the PVE objectives for years now. Same thing would happen in Destiny. People would find the fastest PVP way to end it and do that.
-
Would require dedicated servers; therefore, NEVER going to happen.
-
Anything new is welcome in my book. Bump
-
So basically a larger version of warzone?
-
Like halo warzone?
-
This would be cool

May be limited by the net code. Remember our consoles function as both host and client...we are sending game data out to every other player in the instance. 1mbps upstream requirement for one console to support just 11 other players (need more bandwidth when two or more consoles are on same network). That could go up substantially with a large scale event.
