How to Solve the Rumored Destiny 2 Restart Problem

So more rumors and "leaks" have been released about the production of Destiny's sequel, Destiny 2: the Shattered Suns. As claimed by multiple sources and contradictory to what Bungie claimed months earlier, you will have to abandon all the weapons, gear, and aesthetics you have spent years obtaining; at the beginning of Destiny 2, you will be starting from scratch. Of course, this is understandable to some extent, as every new game needs a new challenge and experience. However, there's still a large audience that wants to carry over their hard-earned items so they can preserve the memories they had with those items and continue to utilize them, as well as to demonstrate their long-time loyalty to the Destiny franchise. So, there needs to be a solution to this problem, assuming this will actually happen; there needs to be a way to draw any item from the first game while preserving the new challenge presented in Destiny 2. I have two suggestions to approaching this situation. 1. A Designated Player Level Cap: This system is utilized by other games such as Pokémon and Terraria. In this system, transferring items is disabled until the player reaches a certain player level, usually at the maximum player-level cap (in Terraria's case, you get a "chest" that allows you to do this across worlds at end-game). That way, the player experiences a good portion of the game, all while giving a fair challenge to regaining your former items and even granting a certain "prestige" in regaining a relic of the past. 2. Transferring by Light Level: This is a system that I came up with that will probably need some modification, but will still work in one way or another. In this system, a player will be immediately granted the ability to transfer over items, but only if the items they transfer are within the range of their light level. For example, if a player wanted to transfer over a light-140 item, they need to be at least light-130 or higher (again, this might need some tweaking). From this, there will still be that balance between that new challenge and preservation, although I'm not sure how this matched up to Method 1. I believe that either of these methods would resolve the problem. However, it's only my suggestion, so if there are any better ideas out there, it would really help to put it in the comments below. This problem needs to be resolved one way or another, so we need to get this trending and spread awareness to get Bungie's attention on this.

 • I'm looking forward to fresh content. Otherwise I'll just port over a hung jury, some high-impact sniper that's flavor-of-the-week, and gjallarhorn and continue using the exact same stuff I have been for years.
