Birth of a Hunter Pt. 1

Made in my free time and also my first fanfic, please be forgiving. Prologue “A Summoning” He rose slowly, feeling the dirty floor of the subway car as he reached for an old golden age era subway seat to help him gain his balance. Slowly he opened his eyes. At first his vision was blurry and water but soon everything cleared up. There was a dim blue light which eight black segments floating in front of him; slowly swaying nothing but 6 inches from his face. Then, the blue light spoke... “Can you hear me?” echoed the faint blue light. Puzzled the young man stood upright stretching out his arms warming up his muscles. “What are you?” said the young man in a low hoarse voice. “I? Well I’m a ghost. In fact...” he paused, “I’m your ghost. I’ll explain it all as we make our way to the outside world. Now follow along my new Guardian.” “Guardian? What do you mean, Guardian?” “Guardians are the defender of light, the fighters of the dark. They serve the Traveller as it slowly tries to heal itself. Guardians fight far and wide across the solar system fighting ur very many and very distant enemies.” The Ghost lead the young man through the subway station. After a few minutes the ghost slows to a stop. “Here Guardian, pick this up.” The man knelt down onto his left knee and picked up what seemed to be a pre-war age pistol along with a handful of magazines from the long but decayed skeleton. He pulled back the cocking mechanism and unloaded the magazine. With a precise fluid motion he loaded a new fresh mag into the pistol and rose to his feet. The ghost vanished… “Can you hear me?” “Uhmmm… yea… Where exactly are you?” “Since you are my Guardian, and I, your Ghost, I am able to dematerialize and sit within you light. At first it might feel a little weird but this feeling will soon fade away. You can summon me by simply sticking your hand out. This will allow me to interact with the world around us. I can also materialize without your summoning but I’ll only be able to act as a guide when in areas with an immense amount of darkness surrounding us.” The guardian began following several subway signs that led to the outside world. He came across one with several stand marking on it. The guardian let out his hand and summoned his little Ghost. The sentient being materialized from thin air and began to spin around sign. After a few moments he spoke after analyzing the strange markings. “These are the markings from an alien species… The Fallen…” Suddenly there was a loud metal banging and the sounds of a foreign language. The ghost vanished and began directing the guardian on what to do. But the guardian ignored what the ghost had said and hid behind a counter. The Guardian thought to himself, How many are there? do i have enough bullets? Will I survive if I attack them head on? The Ghost spoke, “Rely on the light guardian. Trust that you will survive this, If you don’t fret not, I will save you.” The guardian looked around and found the body of a dead guardian and a dormant ghost. He took the armor off of the lifeless body of the dead guardian and took the dormant ghost into his pockets. After he was suited up, he saw a small little shimmer next the where the ghost had been laying, a knife. Not just any old knife, the Knife of the Hunter with the Aspect of Shadow engraved upon it. He picked it up and held it firmly in his hand. “The blade of the Hunter,” said the ghost in a low calm tone. “We can reawaken the dormant Ghost when we get to the tower. We have bigger problems on our hand.” The fallen were lurking closer and closer to the counter the guardian has slid behind. He can clearly hear them, yet unable to decipher what they were saying, he knew they were looking for him. The guardian took a deep breath held the knife firmly in his right hand and waited for the right moment to attack. Than after what felt like a long 7 seconds, he lept over the table and began his surprise attack… Too Be Continued... (Pt. 2 Tomorrow Hopefully)

  • I like it. Remember to double check punctuation using Word. We readers are somewhat 'elitist' as we read. We don't mean to—just double-check. Aside from that, I am interested in the next part. As a fellow writer, I find myself drawn to other fictions to put myself into a new world away from my own life and creations. Enjoy your work as you write. We'll await the next entry.
