In other news, it's been reported that members of this UN panel are heavily invested in various "personal DNA testing" companies. Especially since everyone who makes a claim is going to need to show some sort of evidence that they have legal standing to file a claim and collect an award. Of course, as many of the "we're all one family" feel-good videos have shown, it only takes a few generations before the genetic waters are so muddied and it becomes clear that NO ONE is "pureblood" anything and we're all human mutts, with genetic heritage that makes things like "I am owed money because of something someone else's great-great-great grandfather did to my great-great-great grandfather". If we don't hold murderer's children responsible for the crimes of their parents, why in the world would we say that anyone's descendants are owed (or owe) due to something that was done by (or to) a relative whose face they never saw with their own eyes?

This is more about the entitled group of people trying to get everyone to give them everything for free.

So people that have never owned slaves owe money to people that were never enslaved? Talk about entitlement. Slave ownership at it's [i]peak[/i] was only 1.6% of the U.S. population. And some of the earliest slave owners were [i]black themselves![/i] And let's not forget the fact many of those slaves first brought to the U.S. were [u]sold[/u] to the slave traders [i]by black people![/i] So, if I use their logic to find a true responsible entity I would say African countries owe the current "entitled" black population more than the U.S. does. Just my two cents.

Hey what about the real Mexicans? They build everything, get deported, walk back to the states through dangerous conditions and go right back to work. They cook our food, construct our roads, build our houses and skyscrapers and all for chump change and do the best they can. I am going to ignore certain minorities who want special treatment to give the best minority race some recognition. God bless our nations hard working latinos who work from 6am to 8 pm everyday to make a living. The one who snuck here for a better life and make it through society through blood and sweat. Construction is full of latinos trying to better themselves. I worked in that field for years and saw how it really is for them. Kudos to them for not rioting in the streets and demanding we stop our lives to cater to their problems. We should all follow that example and just make the best of life. For those choice few that demand payment for suffering.....you are being payed by being able living in this great country! The freedoms we have here are astounding compared to other countries. Try protesting in the middle east ...There are others that have it way worse and they keep on pushing. No one else should complain and there is a such thing as black privilege and it is the ugliest thing I've ever seen....

Then the UK, Spain, Portugal, Brazil, etc should all pay reparations as well. Also, as someone pointed out earlier, the Civil Was not fought over slavery. The freeing of the slaves from the Confederate states was: 1) a political move by Lincoln to regain lost support for the war 2) a way to try to weaken southern economy 3) unconstitutional and laughed at by foreign powers for passing legislation over an area he had no control or power over
