Rant ahead for those disinterested, here's your warning. I don't play PvP much in this game, because I think it's pretty poorly handled. But, with Rise of Iron I'm forced to slog through matches for a quest. I was just curious when Bungie was planning on renaming it shotgun vs. shotgun? I mean, what's the point in playing with any other gun when you can one shot people from 10 meters away? Too far for that? No problem, you can move quickly enough to close ground from across the map and kill them before their auto rifle, scout, pulse, or shitty hand cannon can off you, so just rush and blast away! Look I'm not the greatest PvP player, and happy to admit it. But I also don't think it should be possible to -blam!-ing end someone one shot with a shotgun that isn't right in their face. I can't hit a player 5 meters away with a hand cannon anymore thanks to your wonky ass "ghost bullet" nerf. And I refuse to join the ranks of people who just run around slide shotgunning everyone. Why in the hell do we have to choose between using a shotgun and guerrilla tactics in public matches or losing? If you guys don't want to nerf shotgun range fine. Make the other guns actually useful then please. Because right now I can pump a full clip of 900rpm kvostov into someone and they'll survive to fire one round from matador that kills me from a serious distance. Or they'll plow through my tripmine without a concern because you guys decided it shouldn't kill things anymore. This is absolutely maddening. Public PvP matches are just a display of who has the better shotgun roll. And since you can't advance things like quests in a private match (which I understand) it totally ruins a huge part of this game, for me at least.
