There are a lot of posts on here mentioning that Rise of Iron is a grindfest, which... yes it is, but it really isn't all that bad!
Thinking back to TTK, I remember grinding equally as hard to attain the armour/weapons I wanted!
Now it seems a lot of people want to hit their desired light level only under a week of Rise of Iron being released! I for one am really enjoying gradually progressing and slowly getting closer to Raid ready status!
Obviously it is completely down to personal preference, and don't get me wrong, I usually like to speed through dlc's and addons, but when I realised the slow progression in RoI I kinda took it for how it is and adapted to it.... and having such a good time taking it slow!
I don't want to start a massive debate, everyone can play it as freely as they are entitled to, whatever YOU want to do is up to you and I respect that, I am only posting my view, which obviously will vary differently to others and just wanted to see if anyone else felt the same way!

honestly, I'm really enjoying the slow grind. Everytime I'm on, I gain some higher level stuff. Me and a buddy are just knocking out the book stuff. I've gone from 335 to 364 in a week. You hit the mark right there, it's only been a week. Another 10 or so more and I'm raid ready. I've gotten some cool new gear; all of the iron lord gear except class item; Gjally, Thorn; got a really good TDYK; working the forge for bounties raises your rep at a mad rate. had to laugh, got denied my first raid opportunity cause my light level wasn't high enough (which it probably isn't) and I knew nothing of the mechanics of the raid. The guy made a huge deal over it. I was like, no worries I'll just go bang some other stuff out. For my first time, I want to go in blind and figure it out. I remember the olds days of gaming where they we're no check points, no saves, you died, you started over from the begining. I think the younger gamers nowadays are looking for that instant gratification. But everyone is their own and that's ok. I think the music score is excellent by the way!

I don't think I have done this many heroic strikes since y1. As long as the gear keeps dropping higher I don't mind.
-
I'm 385 on all three characters and only have one raid completion.

Edited by Matt Boy52: 9/28/2016 5:12:36 AMI don't have a problem with the slow progression, it keeps it so I have something to always do. If this is how Bungie wants it though, then why release the raid 3 days after launch? When you do that you can almost guarantee people will do things like the Omnigul farm cheese. I think it would have been better if the raid came out 2 weeks after launch, 1 week at least. I admit I'm tempted to farm Omnigul so I'll be a comfortable level for WotM (my current LL of 353 is decent until Aksis but Will be tricky so I heard). I just don't want a repeat of King's Fall where I was underleveled during the height of its popularity and when there wasn't ridiculous requirements at launch (but then like a month later when Black Spindle and Sleeper Simulant and ToM were out those were "required" items). but when I reached the point where I had good Light level, nobody cared about KF anymore.

Grinding strikes with idiots who don't know what elemental burns are and having 150+ kills while with a sheep who can't get more than 20 kills. Yeah no thanks. I tried farming for 20 minutes and couldn't stand the idiots using Gjallerhorn for everything. I don't mind for the boss but just use zhalo super cell please. Why don't I just farm omnigul for 2 hours and that easy 365.

I'm 366 and can't get anything higher from strikes . How do I get to 370 without the raid again .I wanna hit 370 at least but strikes aren't paying it
-
The drive to play lasts longer this way. First the drive to boost LL and be effective in endgame, then the drive for best weapons and rolls. Sure, the progression is a bit glacial, but better the 50% chance for a +1 gain than the prorated infusion of yore.

Not enjoying being left behind by my friends and having no decently fast way to catch up
-
I just started playing yesterday and I'm enjoying these quests. I hate that archon's forge is a ghost town and is irrelevant because you can only carry one offering.
-
Edited by Mezuki: 9/27/2016 5:40:46 PMIt's okay but it's really disheartening when you look on your friends list & everyone is like 370+

I like that I can get tons of time out of this dlc because I have to take it slow with my other priorities taking preference
-
I'm with you man, all for it. It gives you something to work towards with constant progress. Saving a ton of stuff to max out right off the bat would ruin the fun for me.
-
I'm ok with it
-
I like being high level then grind for best perks on weapons and gear. Or this slow level would be fine if I could reforge weapons. I don't like grinding for both.
-
I don't mind the slow progression. However, with that in mind, they should not have released the raid too early. At least, they could have waited a week. I'm pretty much stuck at 366 at the moment. I am able to raid but have only gone up to the final boss. I'm pretty sure that once my team gets a hang of it, it will be like TK all-over again. I have to say that playing Explosive Dodgeball is so much fun!
-
I'm trying to enjoy the slow progression but seeing everyone else getting up so high makes me want to get high. So when I play trials next weekend, I'll be 365, my friend will be 350 and we'll be up against 385s. Ya that'll be fair. Lol
-
Compared to vanilla WoW there's absolutely no grind in this game
-
The progression is fine.
-
I'm not enjoying slow progression. Terrible design decisions by bungo. Let's make people play the same strikes to grind out one or two light levels every hour or two. Rather than make the quests and patrols actually be viable for leveling up. Sucks for those of us who can't play much, favors streamers. Raid that people were over-leveled for and beat in like two hours. People already three manning the raid, a couple days in, that's not a good thing. ...yes I'm salty lol I know
-
Not currently. I will enjoy the slow progression on my alt account later.
-
I just want to be able to run the raid. The slow progression just to get into the raid is what I hate. I won't care about a grind to max level once I am high enough to run the raid.
-
I enjoy the progression but I'm also scared that when I get good enough for the raid , people won't want to do it with me because they could put a 380 guardian in their game instead me.
-
I have gotten to 351 and have stopped progressing. It's irritating AF!!!
-
lol I'm 384 took me a week
-
I hate it.
-
I really enjoyed it, and it didn't take to long to hit the soft cap of 365 and then get into the raid
