Anyone else disappointed that the guardian doesn't speak?

I feel like the way they handled it in the original story missions was great, as well the interaction between the guardian and the ghost. I think the best way to handle It would be just to ask questions they know we are asking. Like how in roi with the chat to the ghost, it would have been nice to see a little appreciation to the little guy.

  • They were all "the reason for the guardians not talking were cause we wanted the players to tell the story themselves", what story is there to explain? It's more like cheaping out, I can deal with the new raid being shit and all, but man when someone brings this up, I get extremely disappointed at Bungie

        For me i just made up a reason why my gaurdians can not speak. The light that brought us back to life slowly faded making us a walking corpse. We gain life at the cost of not living a "normal" one. Our ghost is our voice for now till the light we had in the beginning comes back. Now we are relying on our ghost's light to keep us alive. [spoiler]my reason why and yes there is alot of plot holes from what i said. I know i am not the only one who makes up stories for my characters to make them feel like they are a part of my experience.[/spoiler]

        • The less the better. I enjoyed watch dogs. Antagonist talked little. We didn't know shit about his past, and his mission was clear. For whatever reason, people were mad. What happened to mystery and intrigue? If a game makes you think, puts you in place of a character, his dialogue is unimportant. As a guardian, we need to know what to shoot and where to go to shoot it.we don't need to talk. I love the way the storytelling took a turn for the better, let's not cock it up by making bungie hire 2-6 voice actors to throw in corny dialogue. That money can keep going to extra devs.

                Could be worse. It could be like The Dark Below where Ghost AND your Guardian were mute and all you had was Eris Morn and her emo ass dialogue 😂

                • I didn't think it was so bad up until RoI. When the ghost and Saladin are having a great back and forth with questions about SIVA, and my guardian is just standing there counting the tiles at the iron temple, then I got annoyed. Especially since it reminded me that I adore the Exo male voice and he hasn't spoken for 2 years...

                          • Yea, but what I'm happy about is that we got to see their faces more often. In Most of Destiny's cutscenes the guardian has his/her helmet on. Especially in the final cutscene where your guardian hold the sword like a knight, pretty cool scene.

                          • The scene where lord salad bar and my guardian (well, my ghost was doing the talking) were talking in the iron temple (during some cutscene), I saw Saladin's ghost pop out. I was kind of expecting/hoping his ghost and my ghost would've started chatting in front of the 2 of us. Like, would his ghosts voice sound the same as my ghost, or would it be Peter Dinklage's ghost voice talking to my nolanbot? Would it be a female ghost? Or an angry old man ghost voice? Maybe his ghost stutters, or maybe it doesn't even speak English, so my ghost would get confused at hearing some other language. The possibilities are endless! Anyway, yes.... even if they just had our guardians ask our ghost questions that we the gamers say, it would make our experience more immersive and it would feel like it was us in the game. It doesn't have to be much... even repeating something ghost just said.... like, the earth mission where ricksys comes out and our ghost says "it's in the walls"... if that was a cutscene, our guardian could repeat the line, but in question form, and ghost could clarify who is in the walls and what we're up against. Even the slightest bit of back and forth banter or joking, like the "little light" comment... the writers could easily have bad jokes being met with an angry ghost comment. Or they could have ghost tell us that our inventory is too full, and the guardian could ask for help as what to do to remedy the situation ("do ya think I should hit up the vault or break down these engrams?"). There's so much more they could do, but their focus is on destiny 2, so simple interactions between the player and his/her ghost won't be happening in destiny 1. But yes, so many situations could've been made even better with a one-liner from our guardian followed by ghost schooling us, and vice versa.

                                • This expansion was not made to be a big one. Bungie right now is grinding HARD on destiny 2. And they should. I want all of their top engineers, testers and voice characters chopping it up D2
