So...
A AAA dev called Bungie releases a VERY incomplete product that doesn't compare to the released footage - it's called Destiny. People don't blink an eye and hold out hope for things to get better. Bungie makes 500 million on the first day alone and continue to make hand over fist in DLC.
An indie dev called Hello Games releases a VERY incomplete product that doesn't compare to the released footage - it's called No Mans Sky. EVERYONE LOOSES THEIR MINDS and jumps ship while bashing the company. I didn't hear any record breaking amounts of money being made.
Logic.
I don't know why I even wonder about these things. You have gamers paying at least twice the price of the original game on DLC nowadays and streaming all of it. *slow claps*

The difference between NMS and destiny is the fact that destiny has solid core gameplay. You may not be able to climb that mountain over, join mid game by ship, or trade gear but you can still shoot aliens and collect loot. One look at NMS footage from 2013 and today show two very different games. NMS is about exploration and discovery yet fails to deliver. You were suppose to find unique lifeforms that seemed believable, but instead got something out of the spore reject pile.
