Of course red bar players should be allowed play crucible

But we should have an option not to play against them. I'm not playing crucible to feed a ridiculous red bar 50+ kills (and thats not joking, happens regularly) or just so he can imagine he's good and ignore the fact no one can see him or damage him. It is THE most frustrating thing in Destiny. I want to be outplayed, not out lagged.

  • Not everyone can have a dedicated connection or "broadband" for various reasons: 1 - cost. Not everyone can afford them unless they are living in cities or urban developments where connections are in many cases free. 2 - availability. Moore's Law only applies to electronic devices, not broadband connections. In other words; the availability of the best, fastest, and most reliable connections are not conducive to less populated areas. Therefore, every eighteen to twenty months when new technology comes out faster, and cheaper, ISPs lack in services to meet the demands of modern equipment. See #1 for the reason. Instead of basing matching connections "Bungie Style," how about matching connections directly instead of cloud-based serving metrics. Or - provide dedicated servers for matching. If cost is Bungie's means for providing its current matching stati, be up front with your customers and let them know you will be raising costs of DLC, releases, etc. in order to purchase, setup, secure, and maintain dedicated servers. If you are upfront in your approach, customers will be apt to accept the cost augmentation.

    • I ran past some guy who was red-barring and he didn't fire a single shot at me. Three seconds later I drop down dead and it says he killed me.

I was so excited when I got a wired connection and I thought all my lag issues would disappear. Then I realized lag helps you in Destiny.

          • I use to be one of those red bar players and it sucks on my end too I felt like I was the one always dying because none of my shots registered but it was the only internet option I had available to me I didn't even play the crucible because it sucked so I don't think those players should punished when they probably can't get better internet

            • It will be decades before everyone has a reliable connection to a game like this. Solution: remove the red bar indicator then players won't know

              • Players with good connection can become "red bar" if the host having a bad internet. In PvE that can be fixed by going to orbit and changing fire team leader. In PvP it's completely random. The only way to fix this is by implementing Dedicated servers and remove P2P.

I agree, during the last Iron Banner there was a red bar god who was something like 32-2 at the end of the game. The only time it felt like he didn't lag was when he was t-bagging us. Other than that, it was like fighting Nightcrawler with a sniper rifle that could shoot through walls. edit - stuff like this is the reason I've abandonded the Crucible all together. I'll still do the PvE side of the game when RoI comes out ... maybe. But, if I want to do any PvP stuff at all, I'll play Halo. The Crucible is just awful.

                  • Some people don't have control over there internet connection. You can't just choose who to play with. Say for example you had a friend who you enjoy playing with but his/her location generally had bad internet from there ISP. You'd wouldn't be able to play together.

                    • You can have great Internet and be red bar based on how Destiny has matchmaking setup. P2p isn't this horrible thing but it is when it isn't based purely on connection. I have awesome Internet, average 84/80mps. I red bar at times. What is even worse, out of all the games I played last night, not one had full green bars across the board. Not one had a full green bar. And at least one player was yellow or red. It's time to get rid of this sbmm. CBMM for regular pvp.

                    • Solution Red Bar's should be immediately sent to orbit, or put in a all Red bar match making server. Where people with dial up Internet or lag switchers can play against each other

                      • I get the feeling that Private Matches will go a VERY long way in alleviating Crucible problems while Bungie HOPEFULLY will work on them. Meanwhile, Activision needs to -blam!- off and keep their hands out of the game's mechanical and creative processes. Those leeches have no business sticking their brown noses in development.

                      • Is there even anyone listening out there I wonder. Will it ever be fixed or a 'red bar pit' introduced where they can all play each other? Destiny is a masterpiece of a game but if anything will eventually make me finish with it, this would be thing. Crucible keeps the game ticking over between DLCs. It needs to be seriously looked at.

Let's face it, there is far to much of it going on to even know for sure. All I know is that I have seen alot of complaining about it and nobody admitting to it.

                                • I agree that there are lag switching cheaters but a large part of the lag is on Bungie's end. I go from green to red to green to yellow and so forth during the course of a single match. I have noticed other people doing this as well. It's entirely possible it has happened to you but you haven't noticed. Look at everybody's status in the respawn screen some time. This is the only game where it happens to me. It's Bungie's fault 98% of the time. Only dedicated servers in Destiny 2 will fix it.
