Do you prefer fast paced gameplay or slow paced gameplay?

Guys to clarify, when I say fast paced I don't mean CoD paced, more like year 1 (aside from Thorn and Last Word) or early year 2 in the pulse rifle meta. I'm sorry but the excessive nerfs to every single aspect of the game has made the game boring. Every weapon type, class, and ability is weaker than it was at the start of the game, and for no reason whatsoever other than the complaints of sore losers, an irrational fear of power creep, and balancing that is done by relative judgement rather than using a baseline. It's not fun playing a game where your guns shoot paper. It's not fun that more than half of gunfights end in someone running away rather than someone getting a kill. It's not fun that Rumble matches end in time limit. That's right, the most aggressive and hectic game mode ends before anyone can reach 2500 score. It's a joke. Why has it come to this? Because of incompetent balancing, mainly coming in one of three forms. 1. Basing judgements and making changes based on complaints rather than logical thinking Examples include: the Sunsinger nerfs where one perk, Viking Funeral, needed to be needed rather than the whole class; the shotgun nerf, where reducing range was all that was needed but instead handling and mobility were nerfed; the recent Bladedancer nerfs... like come on who the hell in their right mind would think that Bladedancer was overpowered?! It's all because of the complaints. The complaints need to be looked at logically and evaluated in a rational manner. Just because something is overused or it is complained about doesn't mean it needs a nerf. Maybe other things need a buff. Maybe people are just butthurt. How can this be discerned? Logical thinking. 2. An irrational fear of power creep Buffing does not always entail power creep. Yes sometimes things need a nerf but not every damn time! I think it's rather telling that every single patch has implemented some sort of nerf, however many patches have not included any buffs. There is a clear disparity here. This leads into my next point, 3. Relative balance Balance cannot be done relatively. For example, when balancing auto rifles, you shouldn't say "oh they should be on the level of pulse rifles in terms of time to kill". Instead, you should say "pulse rifles and auto rifles should be on a 0.75 second time to kill". Balancing relatively means that the pace of the game is not consistent and leads to the situation we have now with a slow ass game. The point of reference for balance should be an independent set point rather than being another weapon or class or ability. Please Bungie be more logical and effective with balancing and make the game fun again by speeding up the pace. I'm here to play a first person shooter not a camping simulator.

  • Slow and straight. No quick scope snipes and no bum rush shot ties. No grasps or tlw's.

    • I prefer the inbetweener - a good balance between a 6-man all-out shotgun war and half a team camping in a headglitch at the far end of the map. It is my belief that despite being the most peonounced weapons on the battlefields, specials shouldn't be nerfed, but rather giving most of the primaries a buff. It is a very obvious reason as to why special weapons and just a select few primaries are seen among the more competitive players. It's because most primaries got little-to-nothing on the specials. Destiny is a game of 3D-movement and high mobility, meaning that it's easy to close distance to get close enough for a one-hit delivery of pain and misery with a shotgun, but the primaries (other than a few pronounced ones, you know which ones) aren't reliable counters to a charging Titan because their Time-to-kill is rather high, and grows longer with each miss. The only somewhat reliable weapon counter to a rushing shotgunner is a shotgun of your own - which, with Destiny's beloved peer-to-peer, more than often result in trade kills and thus not optimal. On the other end, High-Caliber is the main counter to challenge Snipers, lacking one of your own - which cannot be rolled on all weapons I think. To obtain a reasonable balance, primaries must be improved or specials must be dialled down. Seing as there isn't much to do to dial the specials save removing their one-hit kill potential (making them more or less unusable - thus not preferred solution), the best course of action would be to improve primaries.

I'd take the HC/Shotgun meta over the sniper/scout meta any day of the week. Shotguns have been nerfed unnecessarily hard during TTK, to the point that they have become extremely inconsistent in hit registration and damage.

                • 75% likes fast paced... I'm also all for less respawn time and smaller maps, but I'd also like bigger maps for pvp like they used to because range actually mattered on Scout Rifles.

Depends on my mood. I usually prefer higher skill games like old halo. I don't really enjoy the twitch shooters much unless it's ridiculous like unreal tournament. But final fantasy 7 is my favorite game along with sonic adventure 2 so I'm all over the place. I do not like cod and don't want destiny getting much closer to it. The problem is their policy on special. They need to be far more situational or less ammo to maintain the current primary ttk. So basically snipers need to be harder to use or punished far more when under fire. Abilities counter shotguns and primaries compete with fusions.

                  • Usually I like something in between or fast-paced. Sometimes I'll use Last Word if I wanna play fast-paced. Otherwise I'll use Eyasluna, Hawkmoon, or Ace of Spades for for a more precise, mid-paced playstyle.

                      • It depends on the game honestly the pace in destiny is fine for me but i also like the slow tactical methodical action of say 4v4 rainbow six siege

                      • I like both. It all depends on the map, my loadout, and who's in my fireteam.

Actually prefer it somewhere in the middle...a pace where you can mount a decent defense, but at the same time fast enough that alertness and strategic gameplay are still important in getting the upper hand. The frequency of the unbalanced matches where one or two are obviously a different league of player and are just pub-stomping the less experienced/skilled players gets a bit old. My all-time favorite Rumble was when the top 4 where all around 150 apart from each other and we were racing to that magic 2500 mark. Got down to the top three were all one-kill from the win...and we somehow wound up on top of each other. CQB slug fest to see who was gonna get the win...and my knife dealt the winning blow. Yeah...got a bit sweaty...but dayumn that was a fun match!

                        • Ok, so I'm going to start my explanation of why I chose "No" with a disclaimer. No I do not want to continue nerfing everything. While power creep does play a factor, I am trying not to let it influence me that much. I think it should be somewhere in the middle. Fast enough so that you can get that "run and gun" feel, but slow enough that it's not "everything one shots and PVP and PVE are unplayable" I'm mostly a PVE player, but I do occasionally foray into the crucible. A reason I have for saying in the middle is that unfortunately PVE and PVP are not separate. Whatever happens to PVP happens in PVE, all the buffs, and all the nerfs too. If they were separated I'd say "yeah, let's go fast" because that'd be really fun. But in the current situation, PVE would become a joke. In the worst case scenario, Raids are super easy and Strikes become speed run-able. Feel free to discuss anything I said here, and have a nice day! SonicMaster25

                        • Sunsinger didn't need nerfed at all. Shotguns are a joke right now for range. They didn't need a range nerf. They needed an ammo nerf just like snipers. Blade dancer was actually OP. As shown by their stats.
