Anybody else struggle to motivate themselves to play?
I literally can't get myself in the mood for gaming. I have so many unfinished games but I cannot bring myself to playing them.
What worries me more is that I literally just sit around all the time staring into space. I don't feel up to doing anything...
Is this normal? I used to love gaming but now I just can't get motivated to do anything :-(

Ok so this post kind of took off a little bit and I'm struggling to keep up with replies. Thanks to everybody who is offering advice! Hopefully I find enjoyment from everything again soon.

Go out into the world for a day. Maybe 1 and a half. Only then will you realize the truth....your great need for gaming. Works every time.

I'm in the same boat as you. If you don't feel like gaming, do something else. If you try to make yourself play games when you don't feel like it you're playing for the wrong reason. Maybe you could use another hobby or a different kind of game.

Game when you feel like it. Don't game when you don't feel like it. Easy. Always do what you want to do, all the time.

Gaming dry spell at the moment, I've been playing mobile games for like 10min during lunch breaks, and at the house I turn my console on just to watch shirt on YouTube. [spoiler]it will go back to normal when bf1 comes out[/spoiler]

Thats been starting to happen to me within the past couple years. I tell myself I'm getting older or whatever. I used to binge on a new game or at least new to me when i was still around 17. Now I'm 25, I'll play for a while and can binge when playing a game i really like but some days i just don't feel it. Games used to feel amazing, some still do, but its lack luster now.

Take some time off from games in general. Go out and take walk once a day or take up a hobby that would relax you like painting, exercising, cooking...etc

I just take a break, maybe binge anime, do homework, go to the gym. Anything to give me some time off from gaming just so it'll feel fresh when I'm back to it.

I felt the same way after a few games I was really excited for never lived up to their hype (division being a prime example) Then I realized a lot of games are purposely creating an unworthy amount of hype just to get pre-orders and then letting the game fall to pieces. Since I started reminding myself that games are not gonna be all their cracked up to be and just have fun with what it is, I've enjoyed games more. Sometimes the game will even surprise me and be better than what I had let myself believe it would be.

I've had that problem in the recent past. I'd play something for maybe an hour then I was bored. I'm into Dark Souls 3 pretty hard right now though so I'm not experiencing that atm.

Best is to find something else to occupy you for abit. School has been in the way and I haven't had the motivation to play much. Think within a couple of weeks once roi releases I'll jump back in. Gaming slumps happen from time to time, so it's normal you have that feeling.

Games just don't hold my attention anymore. I can't find a world that i care to live in for very long. Outs it that I'm getting old and losing my imagination? Or is it that it's such a rarity to find a truly captivating game anymore? I don't know.

3 RepliesI think some of it might be to do with the massive gaming drought we seem to be in atm, I can't really think of a game that I thought was amazing or has lived up to the hype in the last year, if anyone's got anything they can think of let me know, I have put alot of hours into destiny (too many) but I wouldn't class destiny a good game, it's more of an RNG gambling addiction.

1 ReplySometimes, you just gotta get out and see the outside world. Change stuff up. You might just be bored with your every day life. But if this is an ongoing thing, and you feel this way all of the time with everything you do, You should try talking to your doctor. Depression is a real thing and it's pretty shitty if you figure it out too late
