Medium Rate of Fire Scout Rifles In Depth (DIS-43, Tuonela, hung jury, etc.)(also a look at Radar)

Medium rate of fire scout rifles: Read Instead What are its strengths, weaknesses, and how does it compare to other weapons in the crucible. - These have a rate of fire of 180rpm - Deal about 41 damage to the body and 61 to the head - It takes 5 body shots to kill or 4 headshots (at least 2 headshots needed plus 2 body) - Maximum TTK (if you get all body shots) is 1.33s and Minimum TTK (if you get enough headshots) is 1s. These scout rifles are extremely similar to the medium rate of fire pulse rifles with similar TTK and characteristics. Their headshot kill time is below average but they make up for it with only requiring 2 headshots to attain it. Their body shot TTK is above average making them an even more reliable weapon. As well range is a complete none issue and they come with overall great stability. Really these are just a very solid option; they won’t fail you nor will they really impress you. The most effective range for this weapon type is long to medium due to their inability for a quick kill time and because of their slow fire rate. I recommend carrying a strong and reliable close quarter weapon as a special, preferably something easy to use like a full auto shotgun or a sidearm. Going back to their similarity with medium rate of fire pulse rifles: the biggest difference is that these scouts unlike the pulse rifles will either get the max TTK or the min with no in between. Overall they will be a little bit less forgiving in comparison to their pulse rifle counter parts. Overall I can only recommend this weapon archetype for casual use. It is simply not competitive in the current crucible meta. As for what to look for in these: first lots of stability, since you don’t need to worry about range, or even reload and mag sizes on most. For perks chose whatever you are most comfortable with. Now as a little extra lets talk about an issue in destiny that has a large part in making these scouts a bad choice. This issue is the radar. Having constant radar with enormous range, constantly showing you where the enemy is makes weapons that can’t quite compete when it comes to kill time almost completely not worth using, even if they have great range and fire a like laser beam. The way to make these weapons usable tools is to reduce or replace the radar as well as adding suppressers for weapons. The radar should only show players that are firing their weapon or are super close to you. The suppressor could be used to stop one from showing up on the radar and reduce the noise of the weapon. What do you think, should radar be changed? Do you like these scout rifles? What roll do you have on yours? All other In depth posts: https://www.bungie.net/en/Forums/Post/209148528

  • My DIS-43 with Perfect Balance, Full Auto and Hand Laid Stock and SPO-57 sights that highlight enemy targets says otherwise. It's my go to gun. Playing Shores of Time? Enemy sitting on B with snipers. No problem. Stand behind the big rock near C and strafe whilst delivering headshot after headshot. Wait, someone's flanking C? Not a problem with DIS-43. The same can be said for most maps as it still wrecks even hip firing. Sure, there are better guns up close, but as far as a good all rounder goes... That's my choice.
