Sunsinger is absolutely tanking right now in PvP

Just look at the breakdown of skills and their performance across the playlists at [url=http://guardian.gg/en/subclass/sunsinger]Guardian.gg[/url]. Grenades are shite across the board, which means the Super is underperforming. The only skill that consistently results in positive performance is Radiant Skin. I've been tracking Sunsinger's performance weekly since they nerfed it, and this has been standard for it each week since. It's pretty clear they gutted the subclass. So what changes need to be made to get it back on track?

  • Solar grenades with Sunbreakers is really good in 6v6 now that they fixed the burn issue. Plus you can throw out 8 of the babies in Radiance and they will all still be there by the time your last one is thrown.

  • Bring back the original Viking Funeral and Touch of Flame. Just shorten the length of the burn, but make each tick cause a little more damage to compensate. That's what they should've done in the first place. The Sunsinger perk nerfs were the worst nerfs Bungie has ever done. People have made comments before about how certain nerfs wrecked certain weapons or subclasses. But, those were all pretty much over-exaggerations. But, with the VF and ToF nerfs, they actually did wreck Sunsinger. There is no point in using Sunsinger in the crucible at all anymore. Before, they were decent, even though they were only 6th in K/D. But, since 1 of their abilities was "annoying", they destroyed the subclass, because that 1 ability was what actually made their super... super. Without it, it's basically just a light show. Now, it just plain sucks.

      • I was running sunsinger after the patch and the dot is working just fine now. The super still kinda sucks if cant catch a group of of guys .

        • I personally think it needs cauterize in the skill tree, and void walker should lose life steal and gain a void shield and thunderstrike should gain a heath regeneration like transfusion. That would put them on par with titans subclasses then I would give hunters a Shield to one class and another regeneration to its remaining class. Then all would be equal. Each would have one shielded class and two possible regeneration on kill class.

            • Sunsinger is "underperforming" in PvP because Bungie destroyed the crutch that was firebolts with Touch of Flame and Viking Funeral. All three of those things came together to make that grenade overpowered as hell and I absolutely hated anyone who used Sunsinger in PvP, especially if they were using firebolts. Before the nerf, Sunsinger Warlocks were entirely too dependent on their abilities. I used to see them running around in the crucible and it would seem like they never fire their gun unless it's from across the map. Sunsinger's neutral game was way too strong and I'm glad they nerfed firebolts. However, they nerfed them a little too much. As far as I know they basically got rid of Viking Funeral and nerfed the range of firebolts. I was beyond excited when I heard the burn was getting nerfed but when I heard they nerfed the radius, it made me go, "Ok that's a little to much." The only thing that made firebolts overpowered was that one perk combination. So if they buff the range on firebolts so be it. But for the love of God, DO NOT bring back the original overpowered crutch versions of those damned grenades.

            • In general sunsingers need a complete rework, like bungie said the burn and grenades are important to them, because it is directly tied to our super. Nerf the burn and grenades you indirectly Nerf the super. A rework I would love to see is bake song of flame into the super, because let's be honest no one uses it so it's just taking up a perk slot. And I've wanted to use song of flame, but nobody ever stands next to you to get the benefit. Next, something that might be strange, but let's change how ignite flame and Viking work in general. Make ignite the one that causes the debuff effect and get rid of the burn, next make Viking increase the time it is active and maybe give it something similar to nightstalkers keen scout where you mark people with for a short time. Now maybe this is too much or whatever, but right now, when I'm playing sunsinger it feels like this strange collaboration of different ideas and it just gets in the way. It feels like a support, but it wants to damage everything. Who knows maybe when rise of iron comes out we will something to them

                • I dont think then need changes honestly, however Id like the solar flare grenade to blind people (maybe an exotic helmet that resembles sunglasses I dunno... id use it) or maybe it would gain that effect if radiance is cast... I like the one hit shield melee its not overpowered (bladedancer lunges and suncharge) what im saying is maybe radiance can other than ramping damage or applying ignite... alter how some abilities behave maybe jumping gets replaced with a blink that flashes foes.

                • Fusion nades are good, I hate the flame shield delay. The melee isn't supposed to be able to trade with regular melees. The already reduced the max armor... Nerf firebolt, and now somewhat buffed them again.

                  • Explain why the rework is so bad, with ignite it's still a 2 grenade kill and the increase damage to burning targets makes it actually useful for pve now, solar grenades with subreaker and it stacks with tether is a unbelievably power combination. Before the damage was a bit unreasonable but it was the time to recover that was the problem, if you run solar nades or fusions grenades this rework didn't effect you at all, it's people who lead with fire bolts and single tap with scouts and pulse rifles who are the most upset.

                    • Bro, I got my first Sum of all Tears with post nerf Sunsinger. Also, my warlock and overall kd has gone up since I went ba k to playing Warlock. I mained Warlock in Y1, but completely gave it up when TTK came out. I picked him up again when they "fixed" firebolts. Look at my build. It's very very strong and I have a lot of success with it in 3v3 and Rumble.

                          Fine as is. You literally lost 1 crutch grenade. Everything is is completely viable. Look at my new warlock. I only have Sunsinger leveled, and only about half way. And in IB yesterday, I was wrecking face. Ya know why? Cuz I don't rely on crutches to be good. Sunsinger is still strong, but not broken anymore. Edit: all the Sunsingers who don't know how to Sunsinger are coming out. Ya know, the ones who relied on their crutch grenade to carry them, and are incapable of using Fusions and don't know how to properly use a Solar Edit 2: seriously, stop replying to this thread. Or at least wait until you've read every reply so you know that what you are saying hadn't already been said. It's irritating having to make the same reply to the same comment, made by different people. Edit 3: since basically everyone is ignoring edit 2, I'll add the most repeated replies here. Solar Grenades are not slayer grenades. They are bait and chokepoint grenades, and Bungie has fixed the bug that caused them to do less damage over time. I also have deleted and remade my Warlock twice, hence why I have little play time and Sunsinger only half upgraded on my current one. Edit 4: [b][i][u]LET IT DIE!!!!                               • Or those once op sunsingers forgot how to use their weapens after 2 years of firebolt+1 shot. All those poor little sunsingers, now complaining of the forums crying for a buff... guess what?? It has been this hard for all other subclasses since yr 1 now the sunsingers simply lost their easymode grenade.
