The Chaperone needs an overhaul

As someone who has used this gun since the 2nd week of TTK, this thing needs a massive overhaul. Universal Remote outranges it, PC+1 outranges it, the quest line Conspiracy Theory outranges it. What's the point of using it then? As a novelty? This is a gun that should reward precision and skill, but currently it punishes you for using it due to either being outranged by other shotguns or bullets that simply refuse to register. Please Bungie, look at this gun and make some changes to it. All it needs is a slight range buff and a massive overhaul on its hit detection.

  • It does need an overhaul, personally I don't like how the perks feel when I USS the gun, and as a personal preference I think the sights on the gun feel way to big on your screen and the gun isn't even that big lol

    • A shame, really. The Chaperone was so sweet at the start of TTK, then the gun fell victim to nerfs and quickly lost its luster.

      • The gun is fine in terms of range and damage. Yes universal remote fires from further, but it's rate of fire is slower. Chaperone can pull out 2 shots quicker. Buffing chaperone may break it. They need to buff in air accuracy for less phantom bullets. Then it's perfect.

      • Also find it weird that it fires so quick but yet is supposed to be a precision weapon. That pretty much makes it another Invective

      • Yeah it needs some work. It's signature perk is pretty much useless too. I love the gun and getting a headshot in PvP with it is perhaps the most satisfying moment you can get in Destiny but yeah.... outclassed by the shotguns it's meant to be able to outgun.

        • Its the way the archetype is designed, each nerf to shotguns increases the desperate need for higher range. Bungie's arguement for nerfing shotguns is that they where trying to reduce the "need for range" on shotguns. Total opposite effect in the long run.

        • Are we talking PvP? It's still great out against minions of the darkness. I just feel like some guns fit PvE or PvP better, and a small handful do both.

        • Haven't used it recently but last time I did it didn't seem to work that good at all. Been in the vault ever since.

        • for pc+1 and party crasher you gain rapid fire in exchange for range the chappy can possibly wipe and entire team in trials in like 5 seconds if you can land the headshots.

        • It's the longest ranged shotgun in the game. Especially with roadborn! No shotgun can one shot as far away as it, and it has by far the highest DPS of any shotgun in pve.

          • It does need a overhaul. But the biggest problem is the exotic loot table is broken. Exotics are used a leveling materials and therefore have to be or less of the power of lengendaries. But what if exotics stayed as rare as they were as years one? Well that would've been the easiest to keep the chaperone powerful. All legendary shotguns would've lost range and shot package and chaperone being an exotic would've been left alone to shine. Same applies for snipers. Only exotic snipers by this point would've be able to res snipe people or land one hit kills. Let's just say exotics would actually shine but players cried to much and nightfalls got nuked. Three of coins came in. Nerfs and unwanted balance has happened. But maybe one day. The chaperone and other exotics will be better than lengendaries.
