REmake and RE: 0 question

Mainly for the RE: remake since I'm more interested in that out of the two. I never played the old resident evils. And I got hooked on action games again recently and I've always loved actual survival horror. But does re:1 have replay value? Like harder difficulties and unlockables, different modes etc? I remember that's what made me replay re5 so much. All the unlockables and skins etc. also why I plan on picking up the DmC reboot this week. Replay value galore. Especially with the progressive difficulty unlocking it has along with really hard modes. If you have other replay value games I'll take suggestions besides RE but that's just what I was specifically curious about. I don't mean replay value as in "fun to play again". I mean, incentives and forms of progression to be had.

  • Yes there are lots of unlockables, it has good replay value but as everyone is saying it's very different from 4,5,6. It sounds like you're looking for survival horror though, so get it, its extremely confusing at first. I started with Resident Evil 4, but I love all the Resident Evil games, yes I even enjoyed 6.

      • Prepare yourself for the tension of a true survival horror game and be aware of the controls since you started on 5, 1 to 3 were different and I didn't play this version so I don't know how it is.

        • Resident Evil 1 does feature different difficulty modes upon completion including one where the item storage boxes don't act universal meaning items in one box won't transfer to all the others automatically. Plus there's challenges to finish the game in a certain amount of time for unlockables. Two different characters to play as therefore offering two varied experiences. But keep in mind the first entry in Resident Evil is vastly different from the over shoulder bullet bonanzas that 4-6 were. The camera is always set in a fixed position, emphasis on surviving instead of killing everything, no co-op options and an opening door animation every time you change environments. Not saying it's bad, just a completely different vibe to it then what you're probably used to.

Resident evil 1 has different game play mechanics depending on who you choose as a main character. And the story can vary depending on how you play. It is a difficult game to play though, as you will be fighting many old mechanics along with some difficult creatures. Alot of replay ability
