Starkiller Base = Most Idiotic Decision In Star Wars History

1. If can only fire twice because the sun is used up after both shots. 2. It can't move, it's a goddamn planet, not a spaceship. 3. Too. Damn. Vulnerable. 4. I'm sure the cost of the thing was at least twice it costed to build the two Death Stars. 5. Death Star was better in every way...except for that damn ventilation...
1. If can only fire twice because the sun is used up after both shots.
It uses 1 star per charge.
2. It can't move, it's a goddamn planet, not a spaceship.
It can move. It just moved to a different location after getting a charge.
3. Too. Damn. Vulnerable.
Phasma only lowered the shields because plot.
4. I'm sure the cost of the thing was at least twice it costed to build the two Death Stars.
No one knows the cost. Its only inefficient because it uses a whole star.
5. Death Star was better in every way...except for that damn ventilation...
The Death Star II would've been near invincible had the Emperor not lured the Rebels into the trap. Had that hole not been there(it was for construction purposes) they would've lost badly. The Death Star II's full capability is scary if it was 100% constructed. The Death Star II had millions of millimeter sized holes for ventilation.

      • I just kind of assumed that it was located in a binary star system, and used one of the stars for the first firing.

      • The main purpose of the base was to cash in on nostolgia. and boy did it work. It only needed to work once, and it exceeded expectations. seriously tho, why (besides easy money) did they play it so safe and pretty much re make episode 4? they should have done something new all together! i mean it's a Universe to explore! unless the Star Wars universe really only has 20 people in it and there's always a death star type thing that is near by that can be destroyed.

It can't move, it's a goddamn planet, not a spaceship.
If the deathstar (a giant sphere with no visible boosters) could move then they could justify moving it.
3. Too. Damn. Vulnerable.
The only reason they got close is because they approached at light speed through the shield. That task would be impossible but of course the plot has to continue somehow.
4. I'm sure the cost of the thing was at least twice it costed to build the two Death Stars.
Probably even more tbh
5. Death Star was better in every way...except for that damn ventilation...
Deathstar was more vulnerable, could only shoot one laser before recharging, had that ventilation issue, and had its shield generator exposed on a moon nearby.
wedge would still be alive if only he had waited a week or so for them to all suffocate

I also might be wrong awaiting flood to tear me a new one
• The key point of Starkiller is that it wasn't intended for prolonged use. Fire once-Senate worlds are GONE. Republic is destabilized, leaving a power vacuum for them to step into. Theoretically, the second shot will never be needed, because from then on, the Galaxy KNOWS that they can wipe out an entire system in one shot. Anywhere. Any time. As to the vulnerability, it really wasn't that vulnerable. If they hadn't had a defector, a legendary pilot/saboteur, and one of the best fighter pilots in the galaxy all aligned against it, it would have shrugged off that attack like it was nothing. Cost wasn't a consideration for the First Order, though. They had planned to wipe out the Republic, step in, and rule through superior ground forces and sheer intimidation. Same as the Empire, only with a more publicized superweapon. Actually, the Death Star was a rather weak superweapon. Sharp limitations on range, significant telegraphing of intent, low overall kill potential, and a lot of other flaws made it much less viable than Starkiller.
1. If can only fire twice because the sun is used up after both shots.
That's not true, it absorbs all of the output of the sun, not the star itself. After some time, the sun would be usable again.
2. It can't move, it's a goddamn planet, not a spaceship.
It can move, not well, but it can move.
3. Too. Damn. Vulnerable.
It would've been practically invincible if they didn't get into the exhaust manifold. Security was its downfall.
4. I'm sure the cost of the thing was at least twice it costed to build the two Death Stars.
I'm sure it was a lot more than that, although if it was built out of a planet, the planet would likely contain many usable materials.
5. Death Star was better in every way...except for that damn ventilation...
Couldn't Starkiller base destroy multiple planets at once, and weren't it's shields nearly impenetrable? I'd say it was better than the Death Star.

                            • Well what did you expect on the Death Star? You can't just bottle up the energy to blow up a planet. That shit needs to vent! Besides, anyone other than Luke physically could not make a successful run. The port is the size of a rodent (rather impressive for a MOON SIZED BATTLE STATION), pushes heat OUT due to it being exhaust, and the torpedoes would need to drop a solid 90 degrees in seconds (i.e. use the force). Its not like an architect or engineer can account for space magic!

Starkiller base could move, just like the Death Star and could therefore find new stars. 2. It can move. 3. It had a fractional refreshrate shield which should've killed entering without the correct coordinates. Without Finn it would've been impenetrable. 4. Probably. 5. Well not really since the Death Star destroyed one planet at a time and Starkiller base destroyed an entire fleet and like 10 planets in one shot.

It's an ancient superweapon long thought to be disabled. Definitely not every detail of it (some of it was admittedly pretty lame), but the overall idea would've been cool and pretty different from the Death Stars.
