Balancing Destiny: The scoring system is Broken
In many game modes, extra points don't matter that much...
But in rumble, players can win with 1-5 LESS kills than the person in second due to scoring issues.
Let's talk about it.

I mean, it's significally easier to get multi kills - and as an outcome more bonus - on certain subclasses than others. So is that taken into consideration? I never play a defender titan in PvP so I'm not even sure how it works for them. Do they get + 25 while the bubble is up or something? There are many more pressing issues with this joke of a scoring system though. For instance, it always bothers me how a person who is hurting the team and most likely is losing us the match can top the scoreboard - just because he/she was willing to trade, either kills or objectives. The person who gets 4K points in control but is going negative was porbably giving away 5K points in the process. And that's the person they place first? Not that it matters, because the loot system is so messed up anyway but it doesnt exactly help these people change their behaviour - a behaviour that makes it painful for any sane person to play.

6 RepliesYou should rename ths series catering the crucible to mtashed's needs and nerfing things that kills him/makes him lose. Now you have some points in this one but i can't believe you're continuing it after the embarassment that was the first one. Making balancing vids when you don't even know the facts. Saying stromtrance lasts 25 seconds when the base duration is 16 seconds and transcendence allready got nerfed from 23 to 20 seconds. Also heavy is part of the game, regardless of what imaginary rules sweaty streamers want to impose on the crucible. If you let some guy get heavy and then run riot with a hmg you dun goofed.

Why should heavy kills award more points; isn't the strength the fact that you now have a power weapon? Why can quick killing special weapons score the same as a primary; shouldn't they score less? Then there is also: zone kill points, bonus for kills while having zones, assists, head shots, supers, melees, and grenades. Point is there are so many ways to score additional points that it would probably harm the player bass to take them out. Strong players will always do well, and sometimes that means they are not using all the tools the have. Sure a body sniper round with follow up shots got you a kill, but if the next guy domes you he should be awarded accordingly.

I agree. However, I believe rumble should be pure pvp like Unreal Tournament used to be. Most kills wins. Supers be damned.

It because of kill streaks, cross fire, super kills, etc. I'm sorry but the person that goes 18-0 should beat the person that goes 22-21. Ya he had 4 less kills but he had the way better game.

Honestly, this is too true. I've had guys with negative KD's and 2 less kills than myself take a Rumble win from me to not only take a loss, but to also receive NOTHING after the match. It's crap and it needs to be addressed along with custom matches, lobbies or something to separate fireteams from individual players besides 3v3 and 6v6.

The scoring in rumble is a joke You can die 20 odd times and still win. Always thought that was dumb. Deaths should cost points.
