Dude. I figured it out. The darkness is the aliens that the people on earth fight in the movie. The people in Destiny are actually on a lost colony world but think it's the real earth because the aliens obliterated them so much they forgot their history and the races in the games are slave species to the aliens in the movie. And the traveler is actually the boss of the white orbs and the one found in the movie is a lesser version of the traveler or a baby. Illuminati confirmed.
