This is also somewhat related to the idea behind the Felwinter's Peak social space in the upcoming Rise of Iron expansion where you have to first clear out enemies before it becomes non combat (at least that's what it sounds like). I think that since Destiny has lore and mentions of guardians clearing an area (i.e. The Taken King's mission to create a drop zone and patrols or when a patrol asks you to clear an area for "An incoming strike team") it would be really cool to have an event where the Destiny community as a whole has to like complete some mission/strike a number of times or kill a certain number of enemies (maybe in the hundred millions since there are so many players) in order to clear an area permanently. This could be to unlock a PvP arena in an area normally inhabited by enemies or in previously scrapped locations (Old Chicago, Mumbai Push) so instead of having a mention in Grimore about Guardians clearing the area out for Lord Shaxx we could actually be involved. It'd also be a cool way to simulate a battle that involves more than you or your fireteam since it'd be a community effort. Also it'd link PvE and PvP in a way. I think other games have done community challenges like this where everyone gets some reward or something ( Maybe Dota 2 or Evolve?)
