After researching stats / testing out PVP on a new account, simply turning SBMM off isn't the answer. Far more people will be hurt by the change than we think. I'm not saying every gaming being ultra competitive is right either.... but we need to look a the greater good instead of what is best for the top players.

To me, SBMM only causes inconsistency in players themselves. They begin to second guess themselves and question the decisions they chose in their own respective decision trees. While skill plays a major component in anything within any PvP environment, when you're playing a match and things happen that make you question yourself, that's where the decline towards improvement happens and it seems to be misinterpreted by this community as a whole. This decline is perceived as bad whereas if it were to be looked at from a different angle, as a learning curve, the player base would collectively grow and evolve into a higher skill tier. Something else, and I may get a bunch of crap for this, but some of us need to step down off of our high horses and stop hindering ourselves. Just because you think a method of winning a gunfight or engagement is cheap and refuse to use a certain weapon or tactic is your own hindrance, not ours. You create that invisible boundary within yourself, and that in my opinion, is your problem. Not Bungie, not Deej. Your's, not mine. A great deal of this strife of SBMM and CBMM could be solved by having a ranked and a casual playlist, and we all want it, so maybe if we stop threatening to leave and stop throwing childish tantrums, Bungie may respond with a fix for these in the fall. We should all be working together if we want the same things, not against each other.

I don't really care one way or another but the change in skill is evident when you create a new character. I started a hunter after making an account for an ex gf and my god.... Those people that I was playing with were horrible. I almost got my first ran out of medals on her account. While the sentiment that a new guardian shouldn't be thrown in against highly skilled players is a good one, I know for one I don't particularly enjoy almost every game being sweaty. I'm somewhere in the middle range (1.1-1.4 kd depending on playlist) if that matters

Thanks for your honesty.

1 ReplyThis is a social, chill and play with your mates whilst having fun, this isn't possible in its current state. Sbmm is for trials and ranked.
-
everything in this cideo is correct. i loved sbmm fir 2 weeks. after that i had enough of sweating and not being able to do bounties. i cant get any friends to play with me as well coz they keep getting stomped and dont want to play with me. thats just not right at all
-
Disagree in every way. Lag is way way way worse for people.
-
I would love sbmm because I'm really bad at crucible :\
-
3 RepliesMy main issue is slow matchmaking and getting matched against players from US etc and im from sweden. Dosen't matter if they are all greenbar because you will always have latency. Really damn annoying to get shot thru walls. I dont buy that I should have this awful gaming experience and be punished because <1.0kd players sometimes get stomped.

SBMM is the other word for momentum

4 RepliesEvery fps game ever made until the past few years was connection based, people learned and got better after taking their lumps. Iits best to have a better connection and get pooped on every now and again than never get better due to the sbmm and the lag you encounter
-
1 ReplyEdited by jetrotor: 5/24/2016 2:40:54 AMAll I know is the crucible was 10 times more fun during year one when there was no SBMM. With SBMM, I spend more time in orbit trying to find a game rather than actually playing; not to mention I usually que up with people on the other side of the planet, resulting in extremely laggy games.

1 ReplyEdited by Val44: 5/24/2016 8:30:43 AMSBMM is utter garbage. It is anti social. I played with a frind the day before yesterday and his K/D is around 0.8 and i had a blast but he didnt have have fun . Yesterday i joined some other friends with K/D over 2 and in 2 out 10 matches i did good. The others were a pain for me finishinf usually below 1 K/D and once even witha 0.4 K/D. That was far from fun. Its friggin SHIT and it needs to go. If i wanna have fun i can only at the expense of a lesser skilled friend and vice versa . What type of stupid Bs is that? Its quite obvious that without SBMM i would face players with varying skill levels. Ok so that 1 match out of 20 matches i get stomped .... fine . But chances are very low that i run into MLGs on the regular. It would be the 1 game off. If you start the crucible you will always suck. It takes time to gidgud. Anybody should understand that. SBMM is just another cookie for the entitled brat mentality morons of modern society.

I replied to mtashs's post defending SBMM. Owned him so hard with this post he couldn't even respond: "You didn't address the lag once in your video. SBMM breaks the dwindling player base into even smaller chunks, causing latency as we have to go further to find opponents. Nor did you mention the awful things that happen when a skilled player plays with unskilled friends. The most skilled players ELO is taken into consideration so the unslilled friends get crushed. You only looked at the issue from the perspective of someone who only solo drops 100% of the time. Sorry mtashed. You need to open your eyes. Your research is flawed. Maybe this is why you have 0 likes on this forums post." #rekt

2 RepliesI agree that if they want to force SBMM on us, that there should be Ranked and Social playlists. They could even create exclusive emblems, shaders or even gear for reaching the highest ranks and maintaining them as an incentive to try and limit pub stomping in Social. However, the current state of the Crucible only seems to be enjoyable for the casuals. Frankly I'm getting tired of seeing at least one of these every match... http://xboxdvr.com/gamer/Malicious203FLK/video/17815739 Also, as far as the argument against a Social playlist goes... If you don't want to get pub stomped, then play Ranked. Where you're guaranteed to play people of your skill level, even if you're crap at the game.

8 RepliesHELP ME UNDERSTAND SOMETHING. Year One matchmaking. Considerably closer to CBMM compared to the SBMM we have now. The matchmaking wasn't in favor of, "holding people's hands." Yet people like me and ANYONE else that progressively did better throughout playing year one's matchmaking system did it without the help of a matchmaking system. People sit here and act like it was absolutely impossible to progress gameplay and stat-wise during year one. I literally don't get it. You have players like me, and I'm not saying I'm a god, who have progressed. If people like me progressed that way, why can't everyone ? This is the first fps that I've even been halfway decent at. Why ruin top tier player's experiences who play pvp so much more just to help people that play it more casually. I'm only a 1.6 overall k/d and I can't even que into goddamn miscellaneous game variants like Freelance 6v6 because I played pvp religiously as a solo player until ToO became a thing in HoW. It's depressing. Unless I'm trying to playing Control, Clash, or Skirmish, it takes 5-10 mins to find a full team. I've been in Classic 6v6 matches that started with 4v3 simply because the que was taking too long. I can't imagine how aggravating it's gotta be for players that are even better than me and have an even smaller pool of players they can que with. It's causing too many damn problems, compared to fixing things. Revert to year one's matchmaking system, and press the connections towards skill from there. It's like they flipped it completely over and are trying to work backwards now.

I'm currently trying to play Crucible on a character I just made, this is the worst decision of my life.

8 RepliesI agree to an extend with you. I think the real problem here are the number of players in a match. Because of the small number of players in a match (12) skilled players are more noticed by others. If you die 20 times in a match there is a very good chance you are killed far more by the top player than the bottom player on the opposing team. In a game like BF4 with maps up to 64 players you can still die 20 times without getting killed by the same guy over and over again. I don't see destiny change this radical for D2 but I know my initial response in 2014 to the crucible was....."hmm only 12 players and no big maps with vehicles?...owwww I expected more" I really like destiny don't get me wrong but for pvp I rather play BF4 (and still do). The thing is, they need to implement SBMM in some way to prevent the same players getting dominated again again and again. The problem here are players with poor connection. I wish we could have minimum latency requirements, but Sony/Microsoft won't allow that gehehe. On the bright side BF1 is only a few months away.

5 RepliesRide bungies d*ck much? Ffs sbmm needs to be there but region lock it or at least prioritize cbmm overall. New players are going to be bad... i was but i kept rising up and getting better. Its this same mindset that pisses me off when kids get a trophy for participating but not actually winning.

20 RepliesSBMM is like welfare or just about any other liberal social program. You can't prop up the poor by robbing from the rich and middle class. Good post!

2 RepliesThe thing I've noticed is lag is getting worse. I can't get better because i can't get a decent game without shit lag everywhere. What you say may be great for North America, i come from Australia and it is complete bullshit. Dedicated servers m8.

How does connection-based matchmaking not help everyone? There are people who enjoy lag fest redbars?

Make option for CBMM or SBMM in the menu.

Yo mtashed love ur vids man! If you maybe get a chance to check out my new PVP montage that'd mean a ton to me! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VxSWt23YjTY
