After researching stats / testing out PVP on a new account, simply turning SBMM off isn't the answer. Far more people will be hurt by the change than we think. I'm not saying every gaming being ultra competitive is right either.... but we need to look a the greater good instead of what is best for the top players.

Skill simply has to be a part of the matchmaking algorithm. People won't stay if they never do well. Besides, how can the ninjas improve if they play weaker players? However, since 2.0, I've noticed a lot more lag, which ruins some fraction of the games. As a mediocre player, my best experience in properly matched games occurred during the first half of 2015. My k/d slowly rose to nearly 1.2, and was still climbing when Destiny 2.0 released. Now, it's 1.1, due mostly to lag and losing the guns I liked. You can see the connection problem when looking at my daily/weekly/monthly game history. When the network is good to me, I see 1.0-2.0 k/d games. When the network is bad, I get 0.5 k/d games. Bungie should just go back to whatever the matchmaking was in early 2015....

I get that but why am I being put with blueberries when the other team has decent players? I don't get it. I usually always come out on top, but I haven't been able to win a game in quite a while.

You forgot to mention the LAG! And invincible Redbars from across the world I think you need to do more research and see people don't won't to get rid of SBMM so they can pubstomp, I'd gladly play against people better than me aslong as the connection is good, I'd rather be beaten by a better player than be beaten by an god mode red bar, I just want an even playing field, this isn't a dig bro just thought this is an important part of the argument you missed.

With all do respect but streamers 9 out of 10 time will be biased when it comes to the problems. Nothing against Mtashed but you guys are trying really hard to make a living out of playing this game (and I hope you all do). You need Bungie to invite you to events etc. Thats a conflict of interest. Tripple Wreck came close to telling how it is but thats about it. The people that are so pissed are in fact the most passionate Destiny players that feel really dissaponted because they all see the potential of the game and stuck by Destiny way longer then they shouldve. As a streamer that right there might be a subject to talk about instead of acting like the problems are not really there.

8 RepliesEdited by Luckywolfert217: 5/24/2016 2:19:03 PMIf I'm bad, I'll loose. If I loose too much and I don't like it, I'll play another game or take a break. I don't want the game to find me equally bad players to boost my self esteem. If I play with others that are highly skilled, I don't want to be put in a game with try hards. It's a game. Skilled players win, less skilled will loose.

You failed to mention how SBMM has caused atrocious lag. If turning SBMM on is what made the problem, then turning it off is the solution. I'm not a top 1% player, so I am not biased towards "pubstomping"(we called it curbstomping back in my day). I am however unable to enjoy the PVP simply because of the insane lag. My connection is the same as it was when Destiny was released, yet these days I can't find a match that doesn't involve lag ruining the experience for me. When I play with my friend who recently got Destiny, I can enjoy the matches and even whoop ass left and right, not because my opponents are a bit less skilled, but because the lag isn't nearly as bad. If there was little to no lag, I would not mind playing against people of my skill level. But there is lag, and it is caused by finding that player who connected to a potato yet still retains epic skills. You have to realize by now that because you are a Youtuber who is a highly skilled player, your opinion is even less relevant than the hoards and swarms of players who regularly experience bad connections due to our skills levels.

3 RepliesSolo queue being matched against teams is the worst part about the Crucible ATM.

Dedicated servers are the answer

Edited by feralmeerkat: 5/24/2016 1:50:34 PMTo me, the question is "Why not Zoidberg?" In essence, can't we have both Skill Based and Connection based in effect? The biggest problem is the lag. It may not change the game directly, but when you get sniped through a wall by a guy you killed five seconds ago, it is unnerving. The more rage inducing it gets, the worse you play, and eventually you just quit. I have had moments where I just put the controller down and switched to TV because I couldn't take the punishment anymore. I'm ok with skill based, and I'm sure it does help players at the bottom feel more accomplished, and players at the top learn from their deaths. But the Connection needs to take priority if you're going to make a game FUN. If you're going to make the game a competitive house of horrors, then keep the skill based aspect, but that will only draw in the "sweaties." They need to try for both. The big problem then will be reducing matchmaking times, and that can be solved, especially if the game is drawing in more players (*cough cough* more story)

SBMM surprisingly doesn't seem so very sweaty for me. (probably because I don't play sweaty.)

1 ReplySBMM is what's best for the game. Bungie will side with the majority, not the top 20%. Two game types would not work as well. What will keep the Ranked playlist out of the Casual playlist, that is the problem. One side has mobility, the other does not.

6 RepliesWhy is everyone still complaining about this? The matchmaking isn't the issue. Connection referee is. I guarantee that 95% of all the problems we have are directly linked to CR. But everyone wants to point at SBMM.

Thank you, from a sub 1.-- K/D - thank you.

Bro it's a game ... :/

This was the most unbiased and objective commentary on sbmm that I have ever heard. Kudos to you, Sir!

Edited by x Up North Trip: 5/24/2016 6:55:50 AMI couldn't give a crap what matchmaking it is CBMM or SBMM, i just want the queue time reduced drastically and to start in full games, not this 4 v 6 crap.

I'm not sure how this SBMM works. One game I play, the teams scores are real close and it's a good game. Even if we loose, as long as it's close....cool. Next time I play, I get stomped. I can't even believe some people are thatgood. The score is so lopsided it's embarrassing. Then it says "breaking up the teams"....thank God, taking beatings like that sure humble you real quick. I'm just not sure what the game is even looking at that would suggest I could hang with those guys. In the long run, I'm kinda hoping those beatings are somehow making me a better player, even if it doesn't feel that way. SBMM = crazy match ups

Bump to space! This guy gets it.

All they need to do is to create option with and without sbmm, so that palyer can choose. Who like sweaty games will play list with sbmm and who don't will play the list without.
-
I agree mtashed good thoughts im clawing my way to the top (my last 5 games on my warlock were shit) but alas I feel the two things that separate the best from the rest is being evasive while pushing (shotgun) or map control (sniper) it's all about counterplay. I also agree with ranked playlists.
-
1 ReplyI agree with everything you mentioned, however, you neglected to talk about the elephant in the room: LAG. It's real and it's seen VERY often.
-
Good objective video! I totally respect it!

I agree they need a ranked playlist and a casual playlist.

To me, SBMM only causes inconsistency in players themselves. They begin to second guess themselves and question the decisions they chose in their own respective decision trees. While skill plays a major component in anything within any PvP environment, when you're playing a match and things happen that make you question yourself, that's where the decline towards improvement happens and it seems to be misinterpreted by this community as a whole. This decline is perceived as bad whereas if it were to be looked at from a different angle, as a learning curve, the player base would collectively grow and evolve into a higher skill tier. Something else, and I may get a bunch of crap for this, but some of us need to step down off of our high horses and stop hindering ourselves. Just because you think a method of winning a gunfight or engagement is cheap and refuse to use a certain weapon or tactic is your own hindrance, not ours. You create that invisible boundary within yourself, and that in my opinion, is your problem. Not Bungie, not Deej. Your's, not mine. A great deal of this strife of SBMM and CBMM could be solved by having a ranked and a casual playlist, and we all want it, so maybe if we stop threatening to leave and stop throwing childish tantrums, Bungie may respond with a fix for these in the fall. We should all be working together if we want the same things, not against each other.
