This entire thread can be summarized by....
"I can't play against players who play as competitively as I do, so I want to play competitively against casual players...."
And for those who need an analogy....
I worked my butt off to become a professional athlete, but there are people who spend their whole lives focused on improving their game and others still who take performance-enhancing drugs. This is just too hard, I should be able to go on the playground and school some seven year olds. I mean hey, by your logic, they should just get better.
The answer is to eliminate the performance-enhancing drugs, not allow you to stomp children because your manhood has been challenged.
If you have to validate your skills on those lesser skilled, you are not that skilled and certainly aren't much of a man.

Not everyone everyone is playing with the same amount of people. Higher skill means smaller pool of people you can be matched with, which means playing with people from all over the world and experiencing lag way more frequently. But people like you think everyone is complaining because they don't want to play with players at the same level while we want to fight the player and not the lag. Never had an issue with tens of other multiplayer games but yeah we're cowards in destiny only. Try to stop making stupid assumptions because you may not experience the same frustrating lag and other issues in the game like other people do.
-
Or, stop making assumptions that the problems you are encountering are unique to you. The same sbmm you are complaining about is what allowed you to get your k/d ratio to begin with. Now that you have risen to the level of "God", you are playing other "gods" and getting owned. This is still not about casual versus competitive for it is primarily the competitive players crying that they are no longer winning. Casual and competitive are attitudes you take in....each and every one of you will turn a casual game into a competitive the moment you start losing. You're not going to say "well, this is casual, winning isn't important." You are all saying... "Traveling to games against similarly skilled players leaves me tired. Why can't I just stay here and pad my numbers against the elementary school?" You act as though there aren't multiple players I this household. My son plays at a much higher level, still owns, and doesn't cry for cbmm. He perfectly understands why there is sbmm... Maybe that's the problem...I need to get an eleven year old to explain it to you....
-
Also you're trying to justify having sbmm in a game that has horrible issues with lag and hit detection and no custom matches... They could fix some issues before switching it on and lie to our faces about changing matchmaking
-
Get your head out of your ass. We don't have a problem with skill based matchmaking we have with the lag that came with. I have no problem losing to someone as long as he killed me because he could and not because lag helped him
-
Pull yours out and I just might be able to hear you, instead of the hot air escaping around your neck. And you know for a fact that all those red bars are due to you being an international superstar as opposed to playing with people who are lag switching, right? You know this for a fact, right? And you know for a fact that those red bars don't occur in lower tier games, right? I don't care if there are custom rooms, I don't need to have control of elements to play and have a good time.... Do you think that custom rooms will increase your player pool for matches or are you smart enough to realize that you are just adding another filter that will further decrease your player pool? Each post can be simplified to "I need to control not only the rules of the game, I need to control the attitudes and the connection of those I play against" Another question How many of you are actually playing peak hours in your time zones and how many of you are playing peak hours for the other side of the world?
-
So you're saying that people who have red bars could be lag switching and bungie does nothing? That's worse than playing with people all over the world. I don't get what your point is, the game is a mess but you're fine with it. I guess you just have low standards
-
See, you haven't read my comments either... I'm absolutely against cheating. If I have a problem with high tier players getting their stats against low tier, what would lead you to the inane assumption that I support cheating? Making a casual lobby won't stop that...if cheaters can achieve their stats by an easier method, they will. In life, there will always be someone to exploit every loophole. The answer isn't to abolish law, it is to close loopholes... You don't place a tourniquet at the neck if you have to remove the arm, do you? If the patient has a cold, you don't give them chemo, do you? Instead, you treat the injury or the illness... Don't know if you have noticed this in your matches or not, but in many matches that I join, everyone BEGINS WITH GREEN BARS. Most of the time, in my experience, they only turn red after the opponents start losing. Cbmm is not preventing that... A different remedy must be applied... I support dedicated servers...I can even support custom matches.... Treat the illness, not the symptoms...
-
Well for the above average player 1.2 k/d-ish, games can be laggy and non stop sweatfeasts. As for the .9 and lower players sbmm is a godsend as they players as bad as they are giving them a chance
-
You have to have typed at least 2,000 words in this thread. Good lord
-
Your counting is improving, I see... You get a gold star...
-
Omg yessss!!!
-
Then wheres the division? In your analogy those better players would start to play in a more organised way, like from pickup games to college games all the way to professional. You get more distinction when playing in those higher leagues. But destiny is just a casual pvp. You don't really get any benefits out of playing tougher opponents, except tougher games and more lag. Sbmm doesn't belong in a casual pvp where there is no ranking and no matchmaking. Just from my own experience it almost seems to punish better players with more lag. Its gotten to the point where the only pvp i actually enjoy is trials.
-
I'll gladly fight people on my skill lvl, but not when they're sacrificing a good connection for it
-
Which is why matches are made with connection as the priority, then sbmm...want me to provide the link again?
-
Yea, I don't believe them one bit, and neither does a majority of the forums.
-
Yep, wouldn't be the first lie a game producer has told
-
Good grief If you want competitive games, go play Trials. In an environment where: - there are no dedicated servers; - Bungie has acknowledged that they manipulate match making (to impact results) so that all players average a 50 to 60% win ratio; and - A large portion of the community are casual players and Bungie has acknowledged this SBMM has no place. Add to the above the constant bitching from people about "Meta weapons and load outs" - if you want to be successful you're driven towards using a set amount of gear. The Meta is being forced in some regards because of SBMM. Outside of Mayhem Clash it would be great to smile when in the Crucible instead of having to bust your ass. How often is the crucible "fun"? Using KD padding as a reason while people dislike SBMM is a simple way to ignore a number of other issues that currently exist.
-
Good grief - Bungie has acknowledged that they manipulate match making (to impact results) so that all players average a 50 to 60% win ratio; So.....you just reinforced that sbmm is working... If you have 50% win ratio, that means you have played equally skilled players and teams... There is no truer indicator of even matches...
-
Every game in crucible will be a competitive game the moment someone starts losing.... I am sorry that you folks believe that someone else wants to lose to pad your win.... This really has descended to imbecility, at best... If you want casual, pop on Mary Kate and Ashley with your mom... The moment you create a game, only a fool believes that all twelve will go in to casually play...and even then, they will play competitively when they start losing... Be a big boy and understand that you can't make eleven people play the way you want them to...
-
However looking at your stats, I can understand why you need to be sheltered from people like me, and therefore enjoy the protection that SBMM offers you.
-
Statements like these are exactly why it should be in place. Get over yourself it's a video game
-
Congratulations on your interjection which offers no value. My statement was relevant in the context of the discussion I had with someone else.
-
Sure it was.
-
I don't need to justify anything to you.
