I'm an average pve player; nearly a 1.0 k/d. I rush a lot but utilize a sniper as my special. I'd like to switch up to shotgun but am terrible with them. Question for you shotgun monsters out there...what shotgun would you recommend starting with? Are some more forgiving than others? Best rolls? Stability vs range?
I have a few kicking around the vault. Thinking that today I'll start trying to use them a bit more. I'd appreciate any insight. Thanks.

Lol learn, just go for range and sweep up all thos free kills

Invective. Once you get the feeling use a conspiracy theory douche from the vanguard quest or any hight impact long range shotty.
-
Easy... Invective
-
Party crasher
-
To become the best....you must first use a shotgun with low range and impact then you can go on to the high impact and range shotguns. lol

You're going to want range.
-
universal remote

You mentioned PVE in your original post. Did you mean PVP? I'm going to assume PVP. You'll want to use shotguns with high range and impact. The quest line Conspiracy Theory D is an excellent PVP gun. The goal for PVP shotguns is to have guns that can 1HKO from as far a distance as possible. Stability is useless. Party Crasher +1 is another great shotgun if you can get one to drop with rangefinder. Chaperone is great too but requires much more skill to use since you need to get headshots to make it worth it, so I wouldn't recommend it for beginners. Just play around with it a lot. Learn how to slide/shotgun as it comes in handy. You'll eventually get a feel for how far you can be to shoot and get a kill. Generally you don't want to rush someone with a shotgun in an open area as they will be able to easily gun you down before you get to them, so use them to your advantage in smaller maps with a lot of corners. Get used to aiming down the sights when you shoot.

Comspiracy theory, invective, or the 4th horseman are all great.
-
I'd definitely suggest the Invective. It's an all around great shotgun. On the plus side, you'll never need ammo. ~INDY

Get the conspiracy theory from the never ending battle quest. I use it almost exclusively along with invective
-
The crucible one is good can't remember the name but fires full auto and stab almost max n extra damg buff with kill. Only drawback is the range aint the greatest. Invective party crasher two to the morgue and universal remote are good ones
-
High range high impact are the ways to go
-
Range, range, range....stability means -blam!- all on shotguns. Impact and range is all you need to worry about.
-
I'd say invective. It shoots fast so if u miss ur first shot u aren't screwed. That and its ammo regenerates so u can get more play time with it each game
-
Just try whatever u get out man. Look for high range so you can get them in one shot. Or go for rate of fire/full auto. Two will usually get them at closer range
-
Full auto conspiracy and party crasher are my go to
-
Get one with little range and keep practicing. Then just test with anything else you get

Edited by Zeldasavvy64: 5/16/2016 7:00:47 PMThere tend to be 3 good types of shotguns in my experience: full auto( or high ROF), high stability, or high range. Either way, it's all about DPS. Move from one to another to see what you want. Range and stability shotguns tend to fire slowly, so it's either a kill on the first shot, or a guaranteed death. Full autos tend to have less range and stability, so you want to either unload on anyone you see, or get in super close.I prefer high stability shot guns and full autos in pvp. If you prefer this style, I would recommend something like party crasher or the comedian. In PVE, I normally take either her champion, invective, or the comedian. Edit: even after getting a full auto, if you do, having a good range or stability is still kind of like a key.

Universal Remote and a secondary shotgun so your forced to use a shotgun

One on one annihilation with minimal work? Conspiracy Theory and Party Crasher. Just aim and shoot if someone is in front of you. Want a little more work? The one from New Monarchy, Stolen Will or Invective. The first two can be had with full auto... really fun in pve and in pvp can stop supers in their tracks. Control the stability and try to make the shots hit the target, rip. There's more shot shotguns out there but these are easily obtainable, good luck.

Chaperone. It's worst than the regular range Shotguns but if you practice enough with chaperone. Once you pick up the other Shotguns. It'll be alot easier. For shot guns. It's all about range. You'll want either field choke or aggressive ballistics depending on your other range perk.

New monarchy had a godly auto but it is changed now. I learned with auto because I didn't always get them the first time and would die as a result. The auto will help with that. Once you are able to use it search out range and impact perks.

Invective.
