So I'm trying to build a PC

As the title says, I am trying to build a PC. I have about a $1100 budget for all of the parts and peripherals and I want something that will be relatively future proof. I have my heart set on an Nvidia graphics card (probably a GTX 970) and some form of Intel i5 or better processor. I will primarily be using this PC for gaming and school work so it doesn't need to be ridiculous but I'd like recommendations for what else to put in it. I also need suggestions for how to get a cheaper OS because I don't really want to get scammed but I also don't want to shell out $90 or so for Windows 8 just to upgrade it to 10. Thanks for the help in advance!

I'd goto the pcmr subreddit and look/ask around. Also goto pcpartpicker to make sure your parts are comparable. I personally would wait a month or two until the new line of GPUs come out to get the best possible price. On the subject of GPUs, I really urge you to consider an r9 390 instead of the 970 for a number of reasons, the primary one being that it performs better at the same price. Other than the processor and graphics card, I'd get an ssd for the os and a hdd for most of your games and other files. Stay away from Kingston SSDs. Western digital hdds are much more reliable than seagate ones. You can get a cheap legitimate version of windows from r/softwareswap. 8 gb or ram will be enough for games and basic use, but it is really cheap right now so I couldn't fault you for getting 16. Do Not cheap out on the power supply, it could cost you your whole build. Good brands are EVGE, Seasonic, and certain Corsair modles(there are more good brands but I cant think of more rn). If you have any questions or would like me to elaborate any more pm me, I was in the same boat as you 6 months ago.
