56 RepliesMinimum wage was just raised to 15$/hr. in California (goes in effect aprox 2020). This is how much a paramedic makes. That's right: a McDonalds burger maker will make the same as a professional trained to save lives. Does that seem right to anyone?

Doing interviews? Working on your political stances? Running several businesses? You must be high as shit to think damn near any min wage worker works as many hours as any presidential candidates. Especially those who run businesses. You clearly have no idea how much time that takes.

Donald Trump got a multi-million dollar inheritance from his father. He also was loaned 1 million dollars from his father. He's had it pretty good and safe, it's also much easier for him to get where he is now compared to someone else.

1 ReplyHere's my bit on this subject. Adults should not be working for minimum wage like this. They should have some other job that pays more. Jobs at McDonald's, excluding managers, should be taken up by teens in school. Adults need to pay taxes, rent, mortgages, bills, pay for food, and much more. Something needs to be done.

They're working there ass off for food on the table for their children. College cost has increased 7x and minimum wage hasn't, it would take lifetimes on s minimum wage job to pay for college, when 20 years ago you could pay it off with a minimum wage job by working your ass off.

This may come as a shock to some people but effort =/= deserved pay. A heart surgeon will make more money than a trench digger because it's not like just anyone can pick up a scalpel and save lives. I will ABSOLUTELY defend tax breaks because neither YOU nor anyone else is ENTITLED to other people's profits. Taxes should only exist as a necessary evil, to the barest extent possible and perhaps not even then.

9 RepliesMinimum wage is not a living wage. You shouldn't go into a min-wage job expected to be able to support yourself amply on it, although some people manage to do so. The problem is that so many people who are in min-wage jobs are trying to support a family with it, which is simply idiotic. You're supposed to start at min-wage jobs then eventually move up to a better one, not just stay at the first job and expect it to cater to your specific economic needs. It's your responsibility to adjust to your financial situation, not your employer's. I wish people would do their research before trying to argue for a $15 minimum wage.

I believe that any job where you work 40 hours a week should provide a living wage. If a business is unable to provide a living wage, it shouldn't exist.
