And here's why...
Let me show you how a true warlock works.
I use my subclass to maximize its abilities. I define it. I do not let it define me.
Here is the scenario:
Kings Fall HM Oryx CP.
Trigger start.
One nightstalker guardian jumps down and dances with the taken. This is bait.
All other guardians stand together on the sister pillars.
I, a SUNSINGER, stand in the front on top of the right pillar.
My build is as follows : max intellect, Light Beyond Nemesis for 7th orb, "song of flame" node selected, sunburst for orbs from scorch, artifact with chance for orb from solar grenade, and gift of the sun for an extra grenade.
Any two-shot RL will work, but I prefer my Elulim's Frenzy with tripod
Nightstalker tethers enemies.
Sunsinger activates Song of flame, throws grenades and fires rockets.
It is very very simple for a Sunsinger to pop 7 orbs this way.
But those on the pillar will have their supers full, or nearly full, from just the song of flame! This leaves GOBS of orbs scattered about from both the nightstalker and Sunsinger.
The nightstalker jumps up top to grab the orbs dropped from the warlock.
Sunsinger steps to the back of the platform as the others kill the now-spawning Knights.
While reloading the fearless warlock enters menu and selects... Wait for it...
THE FIREBORN NODE FROM THE SUNSINGER SUBCLASS.
Then the Sunsinger can go pick up the orbs that the nightstalker had created and have his res up too...
That, my good sirs, (and ladies) is what you call the best of both worlds!
Seriously. I've been doing things like this since VoG, Crota, PoE, and even nightfalls for over a year.
This is a public service announcement...

Warlocks not op, I personally suck with them.

Edited by Swiftlock: 1/2/2016 6:41:11 PMIn gaming, a crutch is something that makes up for a player's lack of skill. Without the crutch, a player's capabilities dramatically decrease. If someone keeps dying due to dumb decision making and then uses self-res to make up for it, then it's a crutch in this case. If someone uses self-res in situations like sacrificing themselves to detonate an orb, capture a point, or save a criticial teammate to ensure success of your party, then it's not a crutch. Radiance CAN be considered a crutch, but it generally doesn't have to be. It's more about the individual than the ability itself. Sadly, a lot of people just throw the word "crutch" around without comprehending its true meaning.

Support sunsinger has never been bad it's just no one wants to play it. I used to run song of flame when I played with my buddies in crucible and it's basically just a mobile weapons of light for grenades.
-
umm ok so this is good if you don't have titans
-
My sunsinger is such a crutch I used it to solo oryx and two man it before we thought solo was impossible.
-
I usually use Sunsinger with Starfire Protocol so I can have Viking Funeral and Touch of Flame. The fusion grenades destroy ANYTHING with both those perks active.
-
I was waiting for ..... It's a whole damn wheelchair, WITH someone to push it!

Edited by Nixie: 1/3/2016 1:35:38 AMAs a sunsinger main since day one, I must say that firebolt nades paired with touch of flame and Viking funeral are overpowered. This is a joke for anyone who actually read the entire comment. I know he is talking about pve...

Sunsinger is a crutch. Doesn't mean I don't use it when I'm in a raid
-
-
And yet everyone decides to hate sunsingers because they need somebody to blame in raids and sunsinger is just a great raid subclass
-
After trying all the subclasses I gotta say sunsinger is the easiest to play. And I've probably played it the most by far
-
Sunsinger is not a crutch self res can be tho
-
Subclass is trash tbh
-
Omg who gives a -blam!-
-
I've been toying with sunsinger lately, outside of self rez (I main voidwalker) and I'm learning to appreciate this a lot more. :)
-
Fist of havoc now that's a crutch lol
-
It's a major crutch. Kappa
-
It's all about how you use it. Most players just have self res selected and will never use their super until they die. They will die from routine things that others are avoiding like Knights or a boss attack. Playing this way adds nothing to the team and just covers that players lack of skill. Sunsinger used aggressively is a great super to clearing adds, supporting the team, and controlling an area. The problem is that 9/10 people will just hold onto it and it and remain useless.
-
The self rez is also helpful with the shade bc the fearless warlock can bait the shade and take the hit avoiding the whole teammate dying as soon as he spawns in. If the warlock dies from the hit or from the thrall after the hit boom self rez.
-
Your autocorrect added the word "not" after "is." I'm sure you didn't notice so I figured I'd give you a heads up.
-
Neither was the thorn according to some
-
I don't really have a problem with sunsingers, except for their damn firebolt grenades with the burn on. Burns for wayyyyy too long.
-
It feels like a blandancer but with throwing knives that track with 1000 AA
-
Radiant Skin > Fireborn. Just don't die.
-
What is crutch?
