Destiny: Less Chance, More Choice

Destiny: Less Chance, More Choice As a Destiny player for a while now, I've noticed something about the game that I feel should be changed...It's relies to heavily upon to much upon chance and RNG in many of it's design elements. Now, chance and RNG in a game are not bad things, they allow for surprise and can spruce up gameplay, but I feel Destiny has become to reliant upon this RNG and not enough of letting players having more control over the game and how they want to play. This is not to say said players have no control, but I think it can be improved to boost morale and player satisfaction. Below are a list I compiled for what improvements I think could be made to make players like myself and others feel more in control and better enjoy Destiny. [b]Strikes: [/b] * Implement the ability for players to vote on which Strike they'd like to play whilst doing the Weekly Strikes after the completion of a strike. Alternatively, allow players to select the strike they would like to play before hand in said Playlist and allow them to play said Strike with others who've chosen this option and are looking to obtain Strike specific gear. * Bring all Strikes back and add new Strike specific gear for the strikes who've not received it. [b]Crucible:[/b] * Similar to Strikes, allow players to choose/vote on the next map they'd like to play on instead of being left to chance. ( This may not be necessary for Trials of Osiris.) * Make it so those who perform better in matches have a chance to earn better rewards. ( Let me also be clear that I am not saying that those who's performance isn't the best should get nothing, but I feel those who perform better in Crucible are better rewarded with improved RNG and incentive to play better. This is coming from someone who is far from superb at Crucible activities.) [b]Gear:[/b] * Allow Y1 Legendaries like Raid/Prison Of Elders Armor and weaponry to be brought to the higher levels of play. I understand they do not necessarily fit in with how our Arsenal/perks works now, but if that is the case then consider having new versions that our old Gear can evolve into upon hitting the new level cap with new perks to fit them. * Create Kiosks for Legendary Armor and Weaponry ( Or at least Raid and Special Event Equipment) If someone loses or deletes a piece of specific Raid gear they like, due to an accident or lack of Vault-Space, they don't have to worry about grinding for it again. * Have the items in the Exotic Kiosk scale with the highest level of said discovered item/milestones. If Touch Of Malice and the Exotic Swords drop at 310, and if something happens where they have to be dismantled, then they should be able to reacquired at the highest level they were found. This would apply to the above Legendary Kiosks as well. * Improved Light Level drops. If a player is say...over 290, they should not be receiving Blue Engrams that contain 265 equipment. They should contain drops that average between 290 and 300. The same principle should apply for all Light Levels. This would also help infusion more. [b]PVE/PVP Balancing:[/b] * Consider making two separate stat tables for PVE & PVP where supers, weapons, etc. play differently between PVP & PVE. This would solve a lot of issues in my opinion if a dedicated separation of these two modes was implemented. [b]Raids:[/b] * Consider revisiting the Old Raids and updating them in new and meaningful ways. Perhaps high level version of the Raids have Taken variants and new mechanics? * The replacement or retooling of Moldering Shards. To say their worth and value is lackluster currently is an understatement. Perhaps Eris could sell a piece of King's Fall armor or weapon for a certain amount? Or, how about... instead of spending 15 Hadium Flakes (which are more uncommon and require more grinding for in my mind) for 1 Moldering Shard you can exchange your Moldering Shards for Hadium Flakes? [b]Factions:[/b] * Allow Faction Ships, Shaders, and Emblems to be purchasable from their respective Vendor instead of relying solely on Packages upon reaching a certain rank. * Have Petra sell Class Armor, and consider adding new Queen's Wrath/Guard armor and weapons for player's to work towards and buy from her. [b]Xur: [/b] * Please have Xur sell Exotic Shards again. This gripe may be minor, but there was no reason to remove this option from his inventory in the first place. [b]Grimoire:[/b] * Have a Grimoire Kiosk somewhere in the Tower where players can access the lore and cards they've acquired in game. To this day I find it baffling it's only on the app and not accessible in game. This seems like such an easy thing to implement. Anyways, those are a few things I feel that could be implemented to the Destiny to improve it's overall experience off the top of my head. Do you agree? Disagree?   • While I agree it keeps giving me arms when I need boots I'm not sure if I'll even play anymore until next challenge now it'll be do the challenge 3 times when bugger off and go play something else until next Tuesday cuase this current game is boring with next to nothing for pve players to do which gets them 320 stuff and iron banner is such a laggy cheat feast pit of a way to get rewards if your lucky.

    • Here's my biggest problem with RNG: I've been playing iron banner this week with a friend of mine. We started together the minute it launched, and played every game together until this afternoon. I got 4 helmets, including the exclusive, 3 cloaks including the exclusive, the auto rifle, 3 ghost shells, and 4 legendary engrams. My friend has not gotten a single legendary drop. Same levels, same number of games, completely one sided drops between the two of us. Tonight I'm playing alone because he's moved to call of duty. I doubt he will play anymore iron banner, because the lag and the grind for no rewards is just not right. This has been a complaint for over a year now, but sadly bungie does not care.

        • One thing that baffles me is that there is a certain faction of the community that actively defends the prevalence of RNG in the game. A prime example would be the Reforge mechanic from House of Wolves. It helped reduce RNG, at least in a sense, by letting players buy rerolls. Lots of players hated that system because it let players pick the rolls they wanted on their weapons, so players naturally gravitated to certain builds. I've seen other players comment on the loot system, worried that some proposed change would make it too easy to get what one wanted, so that people wouldn't have to grind as long and would run out of white whales to chase. Personally, I think the reliance on RNG deprives the players of their sense of agency in the game world. In lieu of random reforging, I'd love to see a proper crafting system enacted. I'd also love to see player trading and some type of loot distribution system for the raids. But I doubt any of that would actually be considered for inclusion because too much of the game is deliberately structured around slot machine mechanics and too many of the people who get lucky loot drops are prepared to defend those mechanics to preserve the advantage they've gained over other players.

          • Old Raids would be better if their loot was updated, not their difficulty. Getting owned by every praetorian that spawns was never fun. And if the difficult stays the same but with better loot, it would be great fun for year 1 players to take year 2 players through it and have fun, rather than dying and wiping all the freaking time.

                    • Strike voting isn't a good idea when there are often fire teams involved. Groups of two, which are fairly common, monopolize the outcome. Only randoms should be allowed to or groups of three. Even this implementation feels discriminatory or unfair to a degree for those omitted from participation. Your other ideas are ideal and have been proposed eloquently and often by many a forum dweller. Unfortunately Bungie doesn't like to talk about green lit items because reneging on them would be repeating history. Either way it's a worthwhile post to help guardians remember what destiny should be. Bump.

                        Some good ideas, although some are already out there, such as the more generic playlist & reward ideas. Which means Bungie probably won't do anything of the sort because they're a bunch of cheap pricks trying to make a cash cow.

                          • As far as the PvE PvP thing goes, it's already done. Unless you want them to say make something work in a completely different way between the two. Which I doubt will happen, they have defined roles for things so that's not changing. --------That is unless it's an exotic weapon which has it's own special role. Otherwise you are asking them to basically make twice the game. Having them improve the PvE experience is another matter, and something I'd like as well. They have the ability to do it it's just a matter of doing so.

                              • great ideas but unfortunately these ideas make a whole lot of sense and that is the reason scumgie will never implement them because they all have a 1/2 watt bulb for a brain. if they had half a brain they would dangerous

                                  Good ideas! To some extend I understand why Bungie isn't handing out exotics on the maxed found level as this would make infusing too easy. It happened exactly like this when Black Spindle was at the kiosk at 310. Everybody with enough exotic shards and glimmer had his specials up to 310 in minutes.

                                    • The kiosk at discovers level would be broken, 290 finally gets malice, then uses it for infusion fuel then buys it blk and uses it again and again until all primaries are 310, thus boosting his light
