So I've currently finished reading all the grimoire that currently exists, and wanted to make a rough timeline of the events of Destiny, so some people could better grasp the story. This isn't going to teach you everything, but you'll probably have a better grasp on what's going on.
> > > A Few Million Years Ago < < <
The Worm Gods (almost positive are what we know as the Ahamkara) are trapped in The Deep. (Not explained how or why in any existing grimoire.) The Kril (synonymously the hive) are a warring, oppressed, and weak race existing in an area of space doomed for destruction. Aurash (female child version of Oryx) and her siblings travel to the Worm Gods for salvation and answers.
The Worm Gods speak of their imprisonment by The Deep, and offer them god powers in return for what I can only explain as "selling their souls" to said Worm Gods. Aurash and her siblings return to their world and defeat their oppression and eventually flee their disaster. It should be noted that The Traveler was considered an enemy of the Worm Gods, and Aurash was specifically tasked with finding him and destroying him. The Traveler fled, and Aurash gave persuit.
> > > Hundreds of Thousands of Years Later < < <
Having to wage war and kill constantly to remain immortal (as per their contract with the Worm Gods) Aurash and her sisters scour the universe enslaving and destroying worlds. Eventually, Aurash finds a way to bypass death by traveling between the Material World and the Immaterial World. Doing so lets Aurash become closer to The Deep, and finding out the truth about the destruction of her home world and the Worm Gods themselves.
Confident in her power, Aurash confronts Akka, one of the most powerful Worm Gods at that time, and kills it, taking its power as her own. At this time, Aurash becomes The Taken King, supposedly wielding the power of The Deep, but not being stronger than it. (Essentially Aurash becomes as powerful as a Worm God/Ahamkara).
It is at this time that Aurash becomes Oryx, and goes after The Traveler once again. This time he finds The Gift Mast, an object/presence left behind by The Traveler filled with its light and power. Oryx succeeds in capturing it and The Traveler flees once again.
It is at this time that Oryx takes a part of Akka's corpse and uses it to construct the Dreadnaught and give chase to The Traveler once again. It is at this time that Crota comes to power and finds The Vex, which immediately wage war against the Hive, with almost every encounter ending in stalemate.
> > > Thousands of Years Ago < < <
Grimoire is hazy on this, but sometime in the last few thousands years, The Traveler comes into contact with The Fallen and The Cabal, creating situations both good and bad which leave the two races searching for him after he takes flight.
The Fallen seem to both worship and fear/hate The Traveler. Hopefully more light shed on this in the future. It's hard to tell what The Cabal think of him, as there is so little grimoire on their interaction.
> > > Present Day < < <
Obviously, The Traveler, The Fallen, The Cabal, The Hive, and The Vex all seem to meet up in our solar system, and the mighty war we fight commences. Obviously this is where the main story takes place, and all of the Lore is very hush hush.
All we know is that we had a Golden Age of resplendence, which was cut short by war that left The Traveler crippled, and the humans/Guardians fighting against the four invading races.
I might not have everything exact, but I did a LOT of reading to come up with this somewhat loose timeline.
Let me know if you liked this. :)
~Chelsea~
EDIT : As I said before, this timeline isn't 100% inclusive, nor would I say 100% accurate to the smallest detail. It is loose and I feel well done for almost 1000 scroll-able pages of Grimoire. I have heard a website called "destinytimeline(dot)com" is very organized.
If you don't wish to shuffle through the grimoire to find more, I would assume they are more patterned. I'm off to see Star Wars 7, take care, everyone!!

Bungie should release a book that tells every part of Destiny (Proto-Hive, Fallen coming into contact with Traveler, history of the City)
-
I really like the 'Ahamakra being the Worms' theory but I still need abit more evidence Sure there's a lot of 'oh ***** mine' in the calcified fragments but until it says 'the space dragons are the worms' clearly I'm still abit doubtful
hell the concept art for the Ahamakra look like worms! But look nothing like the bones
You know if you really think about it, fundament and it's moons are rather amazing, only does fundament itself harbor, but 2 of its moons are also capable of supporting life, finding a system like that in reality would be like hitting the cosmic jackpot
-
I didn't see a mention of the fact the hive lived on a gas giant
-
MOTH PEOPLE!!!!!!!!
-
The correct timeline is this:

-
Does it say that there are still people in the last city? I have been thinking what if there is no one left down there and this is all a rouge? We would never know because we were brought to life and told things but haven't gotten proof.

This is badass! Good work!

Really cool and good work but I feel trying to create a linear time line for destiny is an attempt that will end in vain. Samsara, among other things, is the believe that time is circular not linear. So while sure you can create a time line there will always be holes that don't add up. Not sure if you said the kril are from that gas giant of a planet but they aren't. Also I feel it important to note that taox and the god wave were the reasons aurash and his sisters pursued the deep and ignored the leviathan. Good job saying crota discovered the Vex not created. I've met some that seem to be confused in that.

Sry I'm to lazy to read that probably would have liked it tho

Ahamkara aren't the worm gods. The REAL worm gods are from the planet Wormulon, where (in the alternate future history of Futurama) they addict the galaxy to Slurm. Therefore, Aurash and all the Hive must come from the planet we would have known as Wormulon.

Well looks like my cover is blown.

Seems interesting except one thing bothers me - I don't see your connection between the worm gods and the ahamkara. In the game lore the ahamkara are basically described as highly intelligent and mischievous(or scheming) creatures that are similar to dragons. Game lore also hints that during the Golden Age, Earth had contact with them as well as deals with them for their incredible powers that eventually in some way went sour and lead to the Guardians hunting them to extinction (or near to it as is later hinted). I can see some parallels to them both being highly powerful beings - but the time doesn't seem to add up to me. I would be more inclined to believe that The Nine are more likely to be Worm Gods than the ahamkara.

Edited by Leon1des: 12/18/2015 4:32:04 PMYou forgot Crota opened multiverse and unleashed vex into our universe accidentally. Vex and Hive fight for millions of years. Vex eventually decide to copy hive and captures a worm. Also Worms worship the darkness.
