TTK PSA

So since the dlc has been out for nearly a month I figured i'd make a post detailing little known things. wether they be useful or not. I made a post similar to this in a different thread forever ago It was something about "little known destiny facts" or something like that. For my own sanity (and character limit) this post will only contain things I have discovered in TTK. I'm most likely going to bookmark this so I can come back and update it later when I find out new things. Anyway enough introduction lets get into some juicy information! ~Sword blocking gives you about 107% damage reduction. ~you can sword block and survive both crota's over soul and skolas's tainted light. ~The blighted orbs in oryx's fight can be stacked to do more damage in one go. ~You only need 3 of the 4 platforms active during oryx's and the daughters fight. ~to get the daughters cards you have to kill them in the "last rites" mission. ~The sunbreaker titan with max armor can tank a GG shot. Additional armor doesn't make this more effective. ~it is possible to tank 2 GG shots with hammer of sol if you have max armor and the over shield from the sunspots mechanic. ~sunspots work exactly like blessing of light. where you can leave and enter to refresh it. ~it's possible to one shot headshot with both a shotgun and a sniper on hammer of sol. ~sun charge does not do any additional damage. ~If you use the perk that turns all your hammers into sunspots when you activate your super you create one. Not only that but if someone stands close enough to you the explosion created with this perk can kill someone. ~It is possible to survive a shadow shot. ~you can block a golden gun shot with a sword and live. ~"double your chaining abilities" gives you both an increased distance between chaining targets but allows you to chain more lightning between more enemies. ~There are sword combos besides just hitting RB 3 times. ~the warlock class can do a special cancel technique that gives them a boost forward with the sword. (see the legend himselfs channel when he solos black spindle mission) ~Smoke grenade damage can't proc the primary reloader perk on the sealed grasps (bug?) ~if you use a rocket that has tracking with the takionaut you break the tracking. the only way to fix it is by equipping a different helmet and changing heavies around. ~All strike specific loot can be obtained outside of heroic strikes. you can even earn it by directly selecting it in the directory. ~in order to get a specific cloak from a psion flayer they need to die last. ~it's possible for other classes to survive a direct hammer of sol hit. ~Fresh troops modifier frequently gives you the hard encounters. to explain this as simple as possible lets look at the fallen saber strike defending the warsat. you can fight hive, fallen, and taken there. however each encounter has a normal version and a difficult version. so that means you can fight hive normal. or fight hive hard. ~moldering shards does not give you double loot. it doesn't behave like if you skipped beating normal crota and did hard first netting you 2 loot drops. What it does is it will give you an item from anywhere in the raid. it can give you even exotics or something from oryx's loot table. the only way to know you got screwed by it is if you got 4 shards after killing oryx. that means you pulled from oryxs table twice and ended up getting the shards both times. ~tier 2 calcified fragments can be earned by anyone helping. and it depends on what boss order you got. Tier 3 fragments can only be earned by the person who placed the rune. ~tier 3 runes and 3 of coins are in the nightfall loot table. ~it's possible to earn 3 exotics from one boss. 1 from a normal drop. 1 from 3 of coins. 1 from nightfall end reward screen. ~new bug involving sprint. where if you sprint and hit something at an angle your character may slow down. stop sprinting and start again to fix. ~2 helpful things for jolly holiday. going for shotgun kills in crucible is best because it's faster and death doesn't penalize you. shield brother strike that you do you only need the final blow to be from a shotgun. ~hitting rank 5 with gun smith gives you the quest for the first curse exotic hand cannon. ~you can use armor from other characters to infuse on different classes. ~the strike streak buff only goes up to 3 times. and it effects how much exp and rep you get from bounties. ~shade step has damage resistance frames like blink. allowing you to survive stickies. ~it's best to decode one armor piece at a time to see if equipping it will bump your light level. makes the gear climb to 280+ easier. ~it's possible to decode 300+ exotics if your light level is 300 or above. ~oryx was a girl ~a special vex in attempt to understand oryx created what i'll refer to as a mini oryx. but without all the power wings etc. It simply had 3 thoughts. one about fear, one about his sisters, and so forth. this is what oryx [i]used[/i] to stand for. ~oryx is actually dead. ~oryx and his logic technically lives on through touch of malice. ~touch of malice is a weapon of sorrow. ~queens brother is alive and stranded on mars. ~master chief easter egg in cayde's stash mission. ~also in that mission is a literal secret stash. ~completing the crucible questline nets you a 1 time 500 rep bonus to the gunsmith. ~exotic faction class items has unique spawn animations. ~keen scout lets you see treasure chests and planet materials on your radar. ~when marked by keen scout in crucible you get the hunted flavor text on your screen. ~you can get sword kills even when you have no heavy ammo. Counts for the questline. ~for the last part of the exotic quest line you need to drop your designated warden THEN the boss. if you try to do it the other way around your warden despawns. ~the shrieker room in sunless cell can be skipped entirely. ~wizards can fall to their death. ~nightstalker buff can stack with another night stalker and melting point from a titan. ~you can use blessing of light to feed the touch of malice so it won't actually eat your health. ~storm trance has the dame DR as blade dancer. ~the extended range perk for your lighting strike gives you a melee range of almost 2 warlock melee's. ~psion flayers do not count as ultras so 3 of coins does not work on them. ~only 4 golden age fusion rifles exist in game. ~one nighthawk shot is roughly almost half the damage you need to drop on oryx to stagger him. ~swords follow the same damage model as arc blade. same with hammer of sol (though the exact numbers are not the same. the amount of hits are the same) ~it's possible for a storm caller warlock to have his super ready in mayhem within the first 12-15 seconds of the match starting with no kills. ~landfall will blind people who are within range to take damage but not die from it. ~cautorize is so effective because on top of triggering regen you are also immediately given a portion of your health back upon triggering the perk. ~the burn on a sunbreaker melee last longer then the warlock's. ~according to luke smith there is only 1 chest piece in engram pools for both the hunter and titan. ~decoding exotic engrams in a fast pace does not create duplicates. we simply get many of the same because currently the exotic pool for engrams is small. this is because most exotic weapons are earned from a quest and only half of the armor's are even available at the moment. ~you must be rank 3 with petra to recieve the exotic scout. ~if you've already earned the spindle doing the mission again will not give you another. however if you don't have the ship yet you get another shot at it. ~secret ending for the paradox mission has been found. But can't normally be entered. best to avoid completing the special ending till paradox is the daily heroic. ~secret room inside the raid. likely to involve either heroic mode or hard mode. ~many guns in TTK either stats wise or looks wise resemble favorite weapons from year one. (red spectre, baby hawkmoon, imago loop to name a few) ~eventually all year 1 armor will have year 2 versions. this can be seen in the armory. ~currently there are 5 exotic classified weapons left. voidlord, firelord, rocket launcher that deals with volleys, no time to explain, and sleeper simulant. ...I think that's it!
