Ship patrols. a way to revive the reef.

So, I recently came across a post talking about neat ideas, one was something with the ships making them more than just a loading screen, the other was to for more patrol areas and so I got to thinking. one way to kill two birds with one stone would be this. To bring the ships into action, why not turn those cannons into actual cannons, and the rarity of a ship could actually matter. but where to put them? why not out in the reef? you could have a whole new patrol where it's you in your ship flying around to explore, find loot, or do patrol beacons for the vestian outpost. along with that, the relevancy of other ships can become back too, (tomb ships, skiffs, harvesters, and maybe a new set of vex ships.) the skiffs could be part of the broken the house of wolves scouring for anything the can find in rocks and the wreckage, the tomb ships could be moving things through from earth and the moon to or from the dreadnought, the harvesters could be doing the same for the cabal on the dreadnought. as for the a new form of vex ship, it could be in the reef in attempt to try and disrupt the reef and give us another distraction. for public events, there could be one of the enemies raiding an outpost, drilling for glimmer, or kill the target except have it be more like attacking an escort or a convoy. with this could also come a ton of story about the fleets that left earth and tried to outrun the darkness and more on the awoken and their ways, or the reef wars. it could also lead way to a star-wars-like space battle on a space station for a strike. plus it could make the reef have more meaning, something like getting special bounties from Petra or variks for patrolling the reef. seriously this would be the single coolest thing to see get put into destiny. Also make it crazy fun. Doing good deeds ups your Amanda Holiday rep. -Smaller asteroids that float around can house crashed ships and sparrows, and even NPC guardians that have become stranded -Both the rogue faction and Amanda faction have outposts in the reef, with vendors selling brand new ships with better weapons and armor and services like repairing a crashed ship, selling your ship for ship parts or money and taking quests to complete out in the field. -Certain areas of the reef are "war zones" where Amanda's and the Rogue's soldiers are constantly fighting. Increased rep and loot are gained by fighting in these areas. -In the war zones, huge ships sometimes engage in combat. The Fallen drive a Ketch, the Hive have a mini Dreadnaught, The Cabal have one of the ships they crashed into the Dreadnaught, and the Vex have a stationary tear in space which screws with time. Killing these award huge rep to whoever participates and wins -Each week, the two factions compete to see who earns more rep and loot the next week by seeing which faction gains more rep. -Each faction has a custom war ship that is the size of a Ketch and can be called in to bomb a war zone should the battle come to that -Ships now have stats, which are speed, piercing, armor and accuracy. Different ships are made for certain things, like looters are designed to extra more loot and tanks are designed to take huge damage but deal little in return.[/quote] [/spoiler] Nifty though from Legionofbacon: [spoiler]If controllable ships ever become a thing in Destiny I want to be able to call an Orbital Strike from the ground every so often[/spoiler]
