Imagine a Raid that was designed around solo players.

First of all, I would like to make it clear that this is not a rant, I'm fully aware that this will not be incorporated into the game. This is just something I thought of and wanted to share. I would also like to point out that this idea focuses on solo-only players, therefor my idea for this type of raid would have no matchmaking or co-operative gameplay. So, a raid built for solo players. How would it work? Well, allow me to give you a few ideas for mechanics and possible boss fights. Let's start with the general design. Take a look at the "The Shadow Thief" strike. The main boss, Taniks, the Scarred, differs from the other strike bosses in the way that there are areas of the strike in which he appears allowing you to deal damage to him over the course of the entire strike. When you reach the end of the strike, he's at approximately 45% health on average. This would be the easiest technique to build a raid boss suitable for solo players. Stages: Every raid in Destiny so far has "Stages". Look at Crota's End. You start in complete darkness, the path dimly lit by lanterns in the distance with little directional view. Then, you reach the next stage: the bridge. See what I'm getting at? The stages break up the break. They allow players with little time on their hands to complete a small part of the raid and return to that checkpoint the following day to gain more progress. I would use the same checkpoint system for the solo raid. So here's my idea: A boss (yet to be thought of) that can be damaged on a number of occasions thought the raid. Think of it as a really lengthened out version the "The Shadow Thief" strike. The raid would take several hours to get through in its entirety, with plenty of checkpoints to save your progress and come back to. Each major checkpoint, like minor boss fights, would be the local source of raid-specific loot; weapons, armour etc, with reliable drop rates. I will design a few loot items based of the in-game visuals of the current gear available, just to add to the idea. That's all for now as I need to get back to my real life and go to work, I will be editing this post later with more content ideas. Feel free to leave any comment below, even leave some of your own ideas if you wish to make an input. I'll say it again: I'm very aware that a solo raid will not be put into the game (yet). This is just a little idea that I thought of and wanted to share. Thanks guys, Low out.

I don't think people are quite getting what I'm trying to say. So, I'll explain further; Yes, it's possible to solo Crota's End. I'm talking about a raid style mission, with raid difficulty, designed more towards solo players. Think of it as a Nightfall strike that takes the same amount of time to complete as a raid. I hope this has narrowed it down for everyone.
