Getting your light level up tips and tricks

Hello fellow guardians! I have noticed that there are still some people needing help with getting there light level up and I thought I would post some tips and tricks to help you get them up. 1. The first thing you will want to do is finish the main story line if you have not already done so. This should put your character around level 39 and possibly level 40. Then end goal is to reach lvl 40 which will allow you to equip legendary gear which in turn can be infused to a higher light level. 2. The next step to getting your light level up easier is be smart with your engrams. When you go to the cryptarch to decrypt your engrams do not just spam them all in one go. The cryptarch determines the light level of the item you are decrypting based on your CURRENT light level. In order to maximize the possible light level that these engrams can drop at you need to always be at the highest possible light level you can obtain from any piece of gear. So for instance if you are at a light level of 220 and you decrypt 15 engrams at once, then most of the items that you decypt are going to range from 215 to 235 give or take. If you however decrypt them one at a time rather than spamming that "A" button you you may increase your chances of getting higher light level gear. When you decypt a piece of gear look at the light level that it dropped at. If it is higher than the piece you currently have equipped you should equip it, otherwise leave on the piece you originally had on. ALWAYS equip the highest light level pieces you have when decrypting (weapons, armor, class items, shells, and artifacts). Eventually if you go piece by piece you will slowly raise you light level as you are decrypting the pieces. Looking at our original example you were at 220 light level with 15 engrams but instead of dropping from 215 to 235 they could get all the way up to 255 by slowly increasing your light with each piece that you decrypted. By slowly decrypting the pieces you can potentially double the light level that pieces can drop at. I understand that this part may be confusing so if you all need some clarification this video should help out a little bit 3. There are certain activities that will also help boost your light level simply by the rewards that these activities drop. Heroic strikes are an excellent way to farm engrams and obtain legendary marks. If you cant quite do heroic strikes just do regular lvl 36 strikes until you are high enough light level. If strikes aren't really your thing then maybe run to the Dreadnaught and give the Court of Oryx a shot. This activity has a quick turn around of rare and legendary drops that will help boost your light level. Finally I recommend completing certain quests that guarentee light level 300 drops that will help boost your light even further. Quests are a HUGE help in getting your light up by not only giving you marks that you can use to buy gear but also dropping those engrams and high level gear that you need. Two quests that I highly recommend doing all the way through are "Never Ending Battle" and "The Court of Oryx". these two quests once completed will give you a 300 level shotgun and a 300 level artifact for each character you complete them on. These two items alone should jump you way up. There are many other things that can help to boost your light level and allow you to complete more content but I'm sure you are already growing tired to reading through this post. If you all have any questions or need some help with some of the harder activities just ask me or fellow clan members for some assistance. We are all here to have fun and should be more than willing to assist a fellow guardian in his or her quest to defeat the darkness. My GT is Shadow Cawn if you need me just send me a message. Keep killing dregs and having fun fellow guardians.
