A thread about sunbreakers (actual testing)

Honestly got tired of the complaint threads so I decided to take 2 friends into rumble to test. I first tested the defense both with max armor and with the extra armor you can get with a certain chest piece when using a solar based subclass. results: I had 2 snipers used. stillpeircer and black spindle. still has impact of 31 which covers 1000 yard stare and LDR. black spindle has 37 which covers black hammer and eferdeets spear. the 004 sniper was not used but has an impact of 34. snipers were used at point blank so no damage drop off was present. With max armor the 31 impact snipers leave me with a tiny sliver of health. which means the 34 impact sniper and 37 impact snipers will one shot me. With additional armor the 37 sniper one shot me. which means 3 snipers can currently one shot headshot the sunbreaker when they have the most armor possible. the 34 might be able to do it. and any sniper with a damage proc including the 31 snipers will be able to one shot. Next I tested golden gun. The result was the same both times. Point blank a golden gun will not one shot the sunbreaker. but they both leave you with a sliver of health. so if the sunbreaker has literally taken any damage at all and gets hit by golden gun they will die. It's important to note that you have to fully spec into armor in order to live from golden gun. If you don't take max armor golden gun will one shot you. Lastly I tested the damage of the hammer on direct impacts. To confirm my idea that it has the same damage model of arc blade swipes. When running max armor on blade dancer with the extra armor you take 2 hammers to kill. you're left with half of your red health bar. then I tested it against a person with max armor on storm trance but no extra armor and got the same result. to me this means it's got the same damage of the arc blade melee. If hammer of sol does any extra damage at all its so small that it's not going to matter in 90% of situations. Conclusion: the sunbreaker mid super naturally has a slight armor advantage. and it's honestly so slight it doesn't matter in my opinion. you have potentially 4 snipers with out any special perk roll that can one shot head shot. and if you are using golden gun all you have to do is hit them with anything like a nade or knife and then golden gun and they are dead. I understand people don't like that the sunbreaker can even survive it at all. However they are the tank class and all titan sub classes can tank a golden gun. so it's consistent. and hammer of sol has average damage. needing 2 hammers to kill a majority of people mid super. of course if the target has low armor it's a one hit. But everyone is always telling me max armor is the way to go in crucible. so if you aren't running it you willingly accept the concequences. end of story. I didn't test all sub classes on damage with the hammer because the 2 I did test with different situations yielded the same results. Though if someone proves me wrong with footage and explains the situation i'll retract my statement. I also didn't test sword swings or rockets. Simply because anyone mid super (bar golden gun and radiance with no radiant skin) can tank 2 sword swings and if any of the subclasses (bar the same 2) spec for max armor can survive a rocket. simply put it's not a new thing. armor always protected you from rockets and now from 2 burst deaths. and the swords follow the same damage model as arc blade does. Hopefully this thread gets around and people stop complaining about how tanky they are or how stupid strong hammer damage is. EDIT: I completely forgot to mention the shotgun testing done. I managed to survive a conspiracy D headshot at point blank when I had the max armor+ the additional armor from the chest piece. with out the additional armor from the chest piece I die. So High impact shotguns will one shot sunbreakers if they are headshots 90% of the time. EDIT 2: Here is a video from TY showing various HoS take downs. https://youtu.be/4cLJoVUHECg Also here is more video/ screen proof from me: https://account.xbox.com/en-us/gameclip/21898b0f-df41-490f-93c0-a96116ca0f8a?gamerTag=Knight%20Raime&scid=37770100-f9ae-4b80-9dad-7c1d0ec14469 https://account.xbox.com/en-us/gameclip/46553c44-3905-492c-8859-3b0d48ea7ee7?gamerTag=CD%20Knight%2013&scid=37770100-f9ae-4b80-9dad-7c1d0ec14469 https://account.xbox.com/en-us/screenshot/a2b92f2a-47ec-4db1-9af8-804a9cd67458?gamerTag=Knight%20Raime&scid=37770100-f9ae-4b80-9dad-7c1d0ec14469 https://account.xbox.com/en-us/screenshot/333b0d93-a696-4183-9d40-8d33a35d9bad?gamerTag=Knight%20Raime&scid=37770100-f9ae-4b80-9dad-7c1d0ec14469 Also I want to take the time to point out the point of this thread. The point of the thread is NOT to prove or disprove how powerful the class is. The point of the thread was to prove or disprove popular statements surrounding both the armor and the damage. Popular comments like "you can't one shot headshot them with a sniper" or "shotguns and shotgun melees don't work." Though so people can stop trying to start a debate with me about the class as a whole here is my exact opinion. And I'm not going to discuss it here. because it's not what the thread is about. If you want to debate it with me either PM me or catch me in a different thread where I comment on it. "I think that hammer of sol is super powerful. in terms compared to other supers it's got much more good going for it then the average super. However I believe this is balanced because the class is majorly geared around making the super better. and the class outside the super is pretty sub par. By design the super needs all the help it can get because it doesn't do fantastic damage. because of how the projectile behaves. IMO I don't think it should be nerfed. But if it was nerfed they could do 1 of 2 things that I deem acceptable. either change how the regen works by either have it only give a portion back with each kill or make it act like hungering blade where it only triggers regen. OR they can remove the ability to normally out right survive a GG shot at max armor. and then reserve that for either people who go the extra mile and get the additional armor from a chest piece, or make it a perk they can select. obviously it would be placed in the tree in a way that people would have to make some type of meaningful sacrifice to have the ability."
you have potentially 4 snipers with out any special perk roll that can one shot head shot.
Currently available models: *Potentially* Eirene RR4 Black Spindle That's it. There are no other 37 Impact Snipers available and the only one that is happens to be a completely PvE oriented Exotic. So we have maybe two and the only one guaranteed to do so is far and away in-favorable for PvP anyway.
... you are using golden gun all you have to do is hit them with anything like a nade or knife and then golden gun and they are dead. I understand people don't like that the sunbreaker can even survive it at all. However they are the tank class and all titan sub classes can tank a golden gun.
So, in summation it's OK for you to have health regen, more than twice the killing potential (hammer drop is easy as all hell to gauge, at the point it's not you're likely beyond the GGs one-shot range for anything with damage resistance active), and unlike Bladedancer deals the same damage but with range and much higher viability in PvE too? Don't get me wrong here, I don't want my Titan comrades to lose the PvP subclass they had a long time coming. Yet, when you combine these attributes that would otherwise had been fine individually you get this insane combination that simply is not comparable and winds up just dominating over the old Hunter subclasses by a noticeable margin, especially Gunslinger. Whether that means changes need to happen to the former, the latter, or both I don't know. But for the sake of versatility and indeed the viability of these subclasses something needs to be done.
