Currently, ships are just loading screens. Boring, so i have decided that i will make an idea for ships to be useful.
Ships having abilities
At first you might be thinking light but even though this will probably effect your light, thats not all it can do. I have 4 abilities in mind:
The orbital strike
Support system
Supply pod
Special/miscellaneous
(The ships abilities can be used by double tapping the ghost button to bring up a gui for the abilities)
With the only exception to the supply pod, (which I will explain in a minute) will require you to create a transmit zone if you are in a No Respawn area. This will probably work similar to the patrol the dreadnaught mission. If you can respawn easily, (take patrol for instance) this transmit zone will not be required, but can be summoned for a specific area to spawn in. (More on that later) Lets take a look at the mechanics by explaining more in depth what a transmit zone is.
What is a transmit zone?
A transmit zone would be an area in patrol that you are able to summon to spawn in, while in No Respawn zones after defending for a little bit gives you access to your ship's other abilities. If you are attempting to create one, there will be a message saying: All enemies are focused on your transmit zone. The transmit zone in it's setting up status can be destroyed, and if destroyed, it can't be re-deployed for 5 minutes. Extra enemies will spawn at this point and swarm the area for a bit. By holding your respective activation button, you will recall your beacon and you will not be able to deploy it for ten minutes. Why would you recall? Because you won't have access to it in another zone, example: if you deployed it in zone A, but never recalled, you will not have access to it in zone B.
What use will it be in patrol?
They can be used as spawn points for your patrol. The best thing for patrol however, is upgrading it to an outpost.
What are outposts?
An outpost is an upgraded version of the transmit zone, having a lot more uses for patrols. While patrol transmit zones only stay for 3 uses, outposts are permanent, but can be moved. It allows you to select even more spawn points. If you have noticed, most of the time a spawn point would be marked by the "Spawn Flag" Those would indicate that there is a spawn there. This will also give you access to the following at the outpost
The postmaster
Bounty tracker
Vault
A computer giving you access to the 'IPhones' in the tower, (The kiosk that looks like an oversized phone for your stuff)
A "Ammo Box"
And a Transmition device.
Note that you can warp to any spawn point from your outpost and back as well, but not between. Example: I can warp from my outpost to the earth strike spawn to my outpost but not from the earth strike to patrol spawn.
How do i upgrade it?
If you would hold X or Square for a bit, it will enable a quest. The quest will go as follow:
1. Link all the transmit zones in the area, they are marked on your map.
(Allow your ghost to scan the flag for it to be linked)
2. Find a shield generator. This will have a mini boss spawn at the ideal location, (this part is bungie's choice of where to spawn the mini boss) the mini boss will have its shield generator. The shield generator would make the mini boss invulnerable. An unique enemy named (race) tactition will spawn every, minute, giving you the buff of 'EMP Grenade' it switches your grenade for a short time, into an emp, this last for only 30 seconds though. The grenade will take down any shield including yours. You will need to use this to take out the shield generator, it would last for a short time though. The generator is dropped as an common engram so pay attention.
3rd step:
Head over to Lord Shaxx and he will have an "Ammo Box" for sale at the cost of 2,000 glimmer.
4th and final step:
Return to your transmit zone and press X or Square to convert it into an outpost. Once this is done, you can move your outpost wherever you would like, and friends on your friends list would be able to also warp to your outpost and use it.
What is the shield generator used for?
It is used for covering you when you are at your outpost, think of a bigger, forever living Ward of Dawn.
The transmition device?
This will be used to trigger public events to the race respectively. The 'Transmission Codes' can be dropped by any major or ultra.
The Ammo box?
Think of a crucible ammo box only that it has a cooldown of 2 minutes and replenishes all ammo types.
Orbital Strike
This is a bomb or projectile that can be shot from your ship, whether a vertical bomb or shot from the ship, thats the designers' choice. To balance it out, it has a cooldown of 10 minutes per use and shots are limited. The damage can't be pathedic, nor 25,000,000 old style gjallahorn rocket power, but a lot of damage, but not 1 shot. You are able to resupply shots from the shipwright. You can also find other kinds of shots in the world, then having access to them for sale from the shipwright. Examples are:
Barrages
DOT explosion
Incendiary
Stun
Supression
Support system
This will have the most supportive effects on a fireteam, I have a couple of ideas on what the supports can be. These supports don't need to be restocked but have a cooldown. You can only have 1 of these equipped at a time:
Drops a heavy/special/primary ammo box, similar to the crucible.
Summon a 3 sides square for cover and lasts for 2 minutes.
Drops a 3 sided shield (the size of a guardian) which lowers the 'Glass' each time you aim down sights.
Drops a piolted turret
Drops 5-8 orbs of light
Supply pod
This will have mini support that has a cooldown and does not require a transmit zone to work. It must be refilled, it can drop ammo blocks like enemies do, with a choice of 2 special, 1 heavy, or 3 primary. Only one of these can be selected.
You can also make it drop 1-3 orbs of light.
Special
This will be mostly patrol uses. Some examples are:
Shows Where a player is trying to connect.
Marks public events 60 second earlier.
(If bungie doesn't want a ship being used, they can simply create a modifier disabling them)
Thanks for reading! I hope you liked the idea. Feedback is appreciated. :)

Edited by Zikiel: 10/21/2015 11:48:22 PMSure, as long as I can use my Birth of History as a short bus to come in and pick up the bottom two players on my IB team and drive them to orbit.

Far too advanced for Bungie, and would actually take months to create.
-
Apparently none of the original faction ships drop anymore.
-
I want a Space Invaders mini game when you input the Konami code in the loading screens.

Edited by DARKNiTE195: 10/22/2015 3:51:54 PMBump. If they cost glimmer, they should be worth something.
-
Much yes very wow
-
-
I think they beed to add new and better designed ships first, to many reskins of ships that already don't look good.
-
I like the effort. This can only bring more ideas into the game
-
No, I like my old ships

Bumping my own topic.

Well, uh... I just went to Six Flags, and uh... every ride I imaged being in my Ceres Galliot having dogfights with Skiffs... So yeah we need ship fights

Bump. Good idea.
