PS3 2.0 update download error
Most likely a large amount of you PS3 players like me have received error code 80710723. Bump so bungie can see

Edit 4: already got a bungie employees reply but now up to 100+ replies. Keep it up people they need to see we are not happy on playstation 3 and we deserve to enjoy to content like the rest of the gaming community
Edit 5: bungie these numbers are rising and Sony seems to be perfectly fine. Please take responsibility for the fact that your enterprise was not ready first off to allow this many people to download such a large update with very little servers to support it. I would recommend you communicate with your community and with Sony to fix these issues. You have a lot of unhappy customers
Edit 6: bungie stop throwing the blame at Sony please we all know you guys are to blame for this. I was able to update my dark souls without any issues, you need to get this fixed

The only thing I needed to do was connect to the internet with a wired connection. That resolved the download speed and errors.

i have the same problem 4 days now downloadin the 1.21 still no luck ive enterd safe mode many times did steps 3 An 4 an 5 an also formatted my ps3 still nothing but it was fine a month ago in april 2016 why this happen to us im a ps3 user

1 ReplyIm not entirely sure if this issue continues to be a problem for noob players like myself that have just barely gotten a copy of Taken King but I ran into the exact same issue with downloading the massive update. Now to skip the arduous whining that occurred over the several days it took while attempting every theory/method/instructions I could find online to solve the psn/ps3 download Error 80710723. This is exactly where I went and what I did in order to overcome the dreaded error code and download Destiny's massive update. First up I thought it was an hardware issue (newsflash it wasn't but I was willing to consider every issue so I formatted my ps3 so that it would have more than enough space to download the updates) I did delete the cache, cookies, and history from my ps3 internet browser. Next I turned off the media server connection in the PS3 Settings tab. I followed up by watching this youtube video and changed my DNS server settings in the Network Settings Tab. See Above. Also note that I did use a WIRED connection; I did not try it WIRELESS because I wanted to follow the exact instructions of the youtube video. See above. Once I completed these steps, I found that I was capable of overcoming the dreaded ERROR code when downloading the updates and haven't run into a issue since. Ive since updated my network settings to WIRELESS but kept the DNS settings from the youtube video. Its been 3 days and still no issue. I hope this helps someone. Good luck Guardians.

2 RepliesFIXED IT. I've been having this problem for 3 days and it stopped downloading, showing the error instead, every time. Honestly, I don't know if this was just for my PS3, but apparently it's not Bungie's fault. At least not on my end. I researched the issue, and turns out people have had this issue with other games in the past. One solution I read from a random user was to turn the media server *completely* off (not just video/music/ or photo individually) I turned the media server off and boom, update finished. It probably more or less stutters the connection from the PS3 to your modem and causes it to time out. Hope this helps a few of you out. I was downloading the 8,611 mb update. Let's not jump to conclusions and kill bungie now, this game wouldn't even be possible were it not for them. Thanks Bungie! No wonder their admin's keep posting here telling people to troubleshoot the error codes, even though I just googled "destiny ps3 update error during download operation" and didn't even put the code. Go figure

About a week ago it took my ps3 two days to download the update and at 99% it got an error code. I'm about to give up and assume this is Sonys way to forced us all to buy ps4s. Today i'm trying to update again seeing as I don't have a whole $400 laying around to succumb to their bullshit tactics. So far for some reason it has two different download bars and it's been at 1% for 20 minutes now. It seems pretty hopeless already, but now I'm curious as to why there is two download bars. Did bungie/sony recognize the problem and try to change the update for us yet? Let me know if you guys heard anything.

While thousands of us are stuck waiting over 10+ hours for this damn update bungie is looking into why people haven't got their preordered items yet... how about we worrying about getting the rest of us in the game so we can stop staring at this usless freaking help forum that has done nothing or answer any questions or given any time span for how long it may be till they fix it

18 RepliesAfter 12 hours of downloading and many error codes I'm finally installing. This is what I did hope it helps. From the PS3 Menu choose: Settings -> Network Settings -> Internet Connection Settings -> Custom Set up these settings so they match the following: Connection Method: Choose Wireless or Wired ... however you connect For Wireless: WLAN Settings: Select Scan > Select your network WLAN Security Setting: Select the security setting for your network WEP/WPA Key: Enter your network password For Wired: Operation Mode (Auto-Detect or Manual Settings): Auto-Detect Then: IP Address Setting: Automatic DHCP Host name: Do Not Set DNS Settings: Manual Primary DNS: 208.67.222.222 Secondary DNS: 208.67.220.220 MTU: Automatic Proxy Server: Do Not Use UPnP: Enable

This may be caused by some of the comments that went around saying to change settings on your console to more quickly download a game. Many of the comments were trolls to actually hinder your download speed.

1 ReplyDeleting Destiny from my hard drive. This is my third post. My PS3 is wired directly to my modem. I have plenty of space on my hard drive. I even changed my DNS to 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 to Google servers. I still have not gotten past 2% before the error code 80710723. My copy of Destiny is on disc. I had two different online chats with Sony, they told me that I have to delete my Destiny files completely and start from there. My question is if I delete my Destiny files will all of my progress be deleted also? Will I have to start from the beginning or will my progress be saved on Bungie's servers?

A bungie guy told me to clear the cache of my console. I had the same error as you, you need to turn off your console completely, unplug the power cable and wait five minutes. Then open destiny.

I had this problem. Over 10 attempts in three days. I got it working by changing the top primarygoogles 8.8.8.8 and secondary 8.8.4.4.. used a wired connection. Disconnected all other devices and computers. And started update by pressing triangle and through settings instead of loading game. Took over 10 hours but worked. Keep trying best of luck to all others still havibg issues.

Delete the files for Destiny I did that and if you put the disk in as if it was a new game it will download the entire thing at once which worked for me I just had to re download the expansion pass from the store super easy to fix

After many errors I changed my ip to google ip. And it worked for me. 8.8.8.8 8.8.4.4 I hope it wil work for more of you! See you later!

I'm still getting the error 80710723, it's been 2 days with countless attempts, I have never gotten past %17. I really want to update. I love this game why can I not update!
