"Kill Him Dead 2.0" How To Beat Skolas

For this strategy I RECOMMEND (does not mean necessary) having the following: x3 level 34's (A Titan with blessing bubble is a good idea but not necessary) x3 Arc Primary (Fang of Ir Yut or Fatebringer/Six Dreg Pride in arc with good modifiers) x3 Arc secondary (Found Verdict/Dry Rot 32 Preferably a shotgun to kill mobs who jump onto the far right platform/ones who get in the way of rotating) x3 Gjallarhorn's ascended to 365 --- A guide is meant to show the most efficient and sure way of defeating a boss. If you care to comment with the muted users feel free but first realize what a guide is for. Ignorance is not tolerated IRL and I don't care for it on here either. Gjallarhorn stands above all other heavy weapons on solo targets as it does a high amount of damage in a short span of time (high DPS). You can use other weapons to damage him but they will take a lessened effect on Skolas. If you choose not to or have no choice on using a Gjallarhorn then you will simply need to rotate more times around the map and most likely have to do a few of the second set of dismantling sites (hacks). THE STRATEGY: 1). Begin by having a full Gjallarhorn (Or whatever heavy you got at full ammo). 2). Run to the Left and destroy the servitor when Skolas is in a optimal position to be hit, you should be able to destroy the servitor with just primary and shotgun. 3). Fire at Skolas until the timer runs out. ---Its very possible to break his chains at this point with Gjallarhorn fire (even on weeks with small arms or specialist), if so proceed to step 6 while rotating to the far right. 4). Run all the way over to the right where the hack (dismantle mines) is on top of the platform. A bubble works wonders up there but isn't necessary. Fire away at the servitor and then Skolas. 5). Hopefully by now Skolas's "Chains will be Broken". You will know as you will be able to do full damage to him. Also the devouring essence will spawn. If this does not occur repeat steps #2-4. You can wait and kill two waves of adds if you do not break Skolas's chains and no adds will spawn until you damage him again. 6). Once the chains are broken the devouring essence will be placed on one of the characters. It lasts 30 seconds. This also occurs if the player with the devouring essence dies. The essence should be traded around at around 10 seconds left on its timer. The character who just traded the essence is now immune to the essence until it is passed through the second character and onto the third. However if a player had the essence on them as they died and a new character is given the essence via Skolas then the character that just died can take the essence once they are revived. 7). While trading the essence work your way either wholly on the left or stay on the right side of the map and clear some mobs. Keep Skolas above half health until you are ready to clear the dismantling sites. If a player dies you might need to rotate to the other side then quickly back again to revive him. You will need to rotate if you stay on the left as Skolas will try to ground pound you to paste. IF YOU ARE GOOD ENOUGH YOU WILL BE ABLE TO SIT ON THE RIGHT PLATFORM FOR THE REST OF THE ENCOUNTER. IT IS THE BEST LOCATION AND IS THE SAFEST PLACE TO BE. IT ALL IS DEPENDENT ON IF YOU CAN SHOOT ADDS QUICKLY AND NOT HIDE. 8). When Skolas is at half health the first dismantling sites will start. One is on the far left when entering the arena on the bottom corner, one on the middle plane debris, and the last on the far right platform. ----The adds will not spawn continuously, only on 1 MINUTE TIMERS as lowering Skolas's health by quarters will trigger more to spawn. This enables players to clear all the mobs then move around the map freely WITHIN 1 MINUTE INTERVALS to finish Skolas when he is near 25% health (I in the letter K in his name is a good reference point) or have less mobs around for the dismantling sites. 9). Move either as a group or alone (preferably a Hunter with invisibility) to disarm the mines. If you can time it try to have a runner transfer the essence just before the mines spawn in. That way they can defuse two mines whilst being immune. Be careful to not have someone with the essence run alone (unless they can dismantle the mine and self res/ whatever brilliant plan you concocted)! EDIT: It takes 9 seconds to solo dismantle a site. Also if you kill Skolas and stand on the final mine but fail it the round it may not wipe you if you enter the mine on 6-7 seconds, the modifiers clear will override the wipe. 10). Once the first hack wave is complete pick a far side and clear out all the little mobs. Preferably all of them so you can build super and not get picked off while attempting to Gjallarhorn (or whatever heavy you have-getting the theme here) Skolas. This leaves you and just Skolas for some alone time, no more adds will spawn if you clear them all out! You will have a minute or two transfers of the essence (30 sec each) before adds will spawn again. Make sure to also not wound Skolas past the K in his name on the health bar. THIS WILL TRIGGER THE SECOND SET OF HACKS. VERY IMPORTANT!!!!!!!!!!!! 11). Once you are all ready bring Skolas near the vertical line (hitting the I in the letter K spawns the dismantling sites) in his name, this will trigger the second set of hacks and more mobs. Use the time to blow the living crap out of him with Gjallarhorn (OR WHATEVER HEAVY YOU LIKE LOL). He should be dead before the second set of dismantling site drops (if not then rotate and dismantle the sites, usually only one person will have to dismantle while the other two focus fire Skolas). Congrats. All my information comes from completing Skolas the week of: 6/16/2015 4 times 6/23/2015 3 times 6/30/2015 5 times 7/07/2015 3 times 7/14/2015 6 times 7/21/2015 9 times 7/28/2015 5 times 8/04/2015 6 times 8/11/2015 4 times 8/18/2015 3 times 8/25/2015 1 perhaps last time. EDIT: If you are stacking Buffs for the Fallen arena make certain to not have more than four buffs going at the same time! The game does not process more than four / cannot display the devouring essence timer when more than four are active! I recommend helmet and chest, blessing bubble buff and that's it. If you don't have a titian then rock the boots as well. You can use the other players immunity timer as a good estimate of when to remove the essence of you have five buffs concurrently running, once your teammates immunity is up, have somebody take it off!

Hey I'm looking to complete my Moment of Triumph challenge by this Saturday, Sunday, or Monday. The only thing I have left to complete is to defeat Skolas. I'm looking for experienced PS4 players who has beaten him before and your help will be much appreciated. I have a level 34 Titan and my Gamertag is Mount_N_Do_Me_09. I will appreciate the help and I'm willing to return a favor.

      • This is why gally is not coming back in the taken king the "MUST HAVE GALLY TO PARTICIPATE" idea. This whole post bothers me like "to beat him you should do THIS" which puts the idea in peoples heads that those are the requirements for their fireteams and im not just saying this because i dont have gally but for all the people who dont have gally because ive seen three people beat it without gally so it isnt necessary to do ANYTHING you can still beat anything if you have patience and i hate seeing all this stuff about gally this gally that and in reality that shouldnt be how it is because this game was originally have fun with your freinds and BECOME legend not use a gun that makes you LOOK LIKE a legend i beleive that you should be accepting everyone to your fireteam to help them no matter their guns for example i did crota for a few hours yesterday when i didnt need it but i wanted to help out a level 27 beat it and he couldnt even damage the guys and i ended up getting 3 energy and that was it so that is how it should be not making restraints based off of guns and armor unless they physically cant join. If you read this whole thing thank you for reading my rant and yes this is what i truly beleive and it is also why even if i had gally i would debate whether or not i would level it up. Again thanks for reading.

        • If you got 2 or more titans, you wont have to rotate at all. There is this perk that makes extra orbs if the bubble gets hit, use it. Once you get to the right platform and skolas chains are broken, you can camp there forever. One titan pops a bubble (pref with blessing), skolas will be shooting at it like crazy, so an extra 3 orbs will appear in no time. In this scenario, saint14 aint that useful so i would recommend alpha lupi for extra orbs (and quickres can help too). With 5 orbs (6 with alpha lupi) and high intellect, you wont need much more to get super again. So clear a few mobs, and another bubble will be ready. You can easily put up infinite bubbles like this. For placemant, i would recommend the center, and as close to the ledge as possible (walk backwards straight after, so the orbs wont fall down). With 3 titans its even easier. Just camp back, shoot at ads, watch skolas health closely and follow the rest of OP's guide. For mines, have one person break off who just got immune, he should have full super with the ridiculous ammounts of orbs generated, so with ads cleares, this shouldnt be a problem. Last skolas run i did with 3 titans, and postgame showed each of us had more than 150 orb pickups, lol (we took it slow).

          • Here's how I did it with two Sunsingers and a Titan: Go right platform. Titan has extended duration bubble and Saint 14 Kill ads 1 Sunsinger hunts down servitor DPS Skolas Kill ads Repeat until Devour starts IMPORTANT: Bring Skolas very close to 50% health, do not get carried away and start the dismantle mines section too soon. KILL ADS. Make sure the arena is is empty of ads before bringing Skolas health down and starting mines. Start mine section by bringing Skolas health down. Immediately send a self res warlock to the far left to be prepared to dismantle mines. Can capture mines on the way back to right. If done correctly, you'll have enough time to dismantle that you won't have to start fighting ads until about halfway through the second mine. Do the same at 25%. It's important you don't summon mines while the arena is full of ads as this will make it unnecessarily difficult. After second mines section, DPS Skolas. Note: This is my own strategy from the one and only time I beat Skolas and I was carrying the Titan teammate. I tried a few other strategies which proved painful and annoying, left too much up to chance. My brother successfully adopted this same strategy to help a few other people beat Skolas, even able to carry two people at once (only one person ever needs to leave the right platform)

The second I read 3 Titans I said to myself "EASY MODE". 3 Defender Titans is an unfair fight for Skolas. If you add 3 Saint-14 helms with Gift of the Void and Armor/Blessings of light on the bubble and Gift of Light its even easier with Brawler. ORBS EVERYWHERE!!!!

Or even better: 1) In the airlock, before the fight, fire every rocket you have at your team-mates. Then shoot all but two clips of your primary at them. All the above with the Icebreaker equipped. Now you are ready! 2) Go into the arena, clear all your primary ammo into a wall and kill mobs with your Icebreaker until there are just Servitors and Skolas left (don't shoot either). Revive your dead, switch to whatever weapon you are planning on using (ie Gjallahorn) and pick up a few of the purple ammo packs now littering the arena - they will be abundant for the rest of this fight, so go nuts! 3) Blast Skolas until the Servitors bonds are broken (you will need to kill a Servitors or two first). Stop before his health drops to 50%. 4) Move back and forth, as a group, passing the Devouring Essence back and forth, killing mobs (and not Skolas). 5) Once the arena is manageable drop Skolas below 50% and wait for all hell to break loose. Prioritise the mines, then the Devouring Essence then the mobs. Ignore Skolas! 6) Once you have recovered pick up more heavy ammo (there will still be lots!) and whittle him down to about 30%. 7) Run around the arena killing mobs and passing the Essence back and forth. 8) It is you vs Skolas. You should have full heavy ammo and he should be nearly dead. Hit hit him with everything you've got. Now it is just you. 9) Amble leisurely to the three mine spots and defuse them. YOU HAVE WON!!!! TL;DR: do the Icebreaker heavy ammo glitch then concentrate on taking out mobs. Only damage Skolas when you are ready to do so
