PvE is not PvP damage...

A buddy of mine who's a HUGE PvP nut and I have been going back and forth for weeks about how the weapon balances work. I personally have loved them but, I'm a PvE player as I find PvP to be utterly worthless. My friend feels similarly but reversed and dislikes PvE. Similarly, I feel PvP is less rewarding for gear and he feels PvE is less rewarding for gear. Regardless, both of us however agree on one thing though. Weapon balancing should not be uniform across the entire game!!!!!!! Leave my goddamn PvE damage alone!!! I'm getting sick of losing guns I like using because crucible crybabies can't stand the nearest weapon balancing and want their favorite gun type to be top. Similarly, my buddy says to keep the no-skill PvE babies weapon buffs out of cruciclbe as according to him, pulse rifles are the most worthless pieces of crap that have ever come from Bungies asshole and they can shove them right back up there. Morale of the griping here?? Both sides of the coin are agreeing on one thing: seperate the PvE damage buffs from PvP buffs. Each game mode should not suffer the same debuffs because one side wants different weapons. Another thought we had was that if a weapon does 365 damage, then perhaps that should be what each clip in each gun does (with obvious retooling for the different gun types based on distance, I.e. damage drop off being suffered the least by sniper rifles). That means if your gun has 6 bullets, you do 365 damage in 6 bullets. It's not a flawless idea but more a core idea. Either way, both a no skill PvE player like myself and a crucible crybaby like my buddy agree that my weapon buffs and debuffs should NOT cross over into crucible and visa versa. Thoughts???

  • Thoughts? Its eventually going to have to come to this, if Bungie is unwilling to reach a point where they simply stop listening to the Crucible whiners. Because the complaints about PvP weapon balance will NEVER stop. Because comp FPS gamers constantly complain about it around every shooter...and their first instinct whenever they are confronted with any weapon that is new, different, or stands out...is to NERF IT. Bottomline, is that the needs of PvE players and PvP players are not compatible. PvP players want to live in a world where (basically) EVERY weapon performs THE SAME. PvE players need to live in a world where weapons get progressively more powerful as the enemies they face grow more powerful. So PvP players have the luxury of living in a world of relatively static enemy threat level, that PvE players do not. So as long as the weapons systems are linked, NO sort of "balance" in PvP is possible....and any moves to create it will ruin the usefulness of those weapons for PvE. Auto rifles are so bad right now in end-game PvE play, that if it weren't for the ability of Abyss Defiant to disorient Wizards, I would never use one. But we are reaching something of a breaking point right now, because PvP players are deterimined to yank the teeth out of hand cannons...which are one of the most effective weapons right now for end-game PvE.

They've already done this. Shotguns were buffed by 200% in PvE only. Which means they apparently felt the rest of the changes were needed by both sides

    • the 365 damage is an indication of the level of enemy it does 100% damage to (level 36) and impact is the actual damage relative other weapons... but wait with all the 'rebalancing' the impact probably isn't even accurate anymore so who knows... the guns do what the bean counters at bungIe want them to and that's probably very different from what the players want them to do. I still can't turn off auto aim!

    • A nerf for one should be a nerf for all

      • You play PvE and you love the weapon balance! I stopped reading there as ARs are worthless and PvP has had half of our weapons nerfed into the ground. Your an idiot!

      • The balance they did with shotguns showed that Bungie can actually keep damage from PvP and PvE separated, they could do the same with the other weapons like autorifles
