Shooting Range

To start, I would like to commend Bungie on their ability to keep the majority of updates helpful to both beginners and higher skilled players in destiny. This game is played by many people that span a wide range of skill level and time played. Before I go into the details of this idea, I would like to state that I have put a lot of time into destiny, I have three level 34 charactes, and a near max grimoire of 3475 as of this post, but I do spend some time helping players lower level doing raids or just giving general info about the game and its tricks. My PSN is GUREN-M2 The update I propose is a shooting range located in the tower, yes I said the tower and not the reef. The reef is cool and all, but it is mostly dedicated to higher leveled players, the tower welcomes everyone and provides the space needed for this concept. The location would be on a lower level of the tower, using one of the side doors that are currently closed, whether it is an elevator or a stair case. A lower level would be a small or medium area with a couple vault access computers and the main shooting range spaces. Multiple spaces would be available to use, but of course just like the vaults it would be instanced for each player using them. The vaults would be just a way to swap around guns faster than walking up to the main tower area. Ammo could be purchased in shooting area with a small amount of glimmer from a vendor or automatically with the use of the shooting range. When you use the shooting range by holding your respective access button (square on playstation), you would be taken to a selection screen to choose the settings for the range you want to use. This screen would include all enemy types, fallen, hive, vex, cabal, and guardian; while also allowing the option to have plain target circles like a real shooting range would have. This allows you to practice getting critical hits, maybe work on shooting around the cabal shields, whatever you need. Another option would be if you want combat modifiers, such as a burn or weapon type preference. This allows you to compare damage that would occur in a nightfall or prison of elders situation. Modifiers such as brawler, lightswitch, airborne, and grounded are not needed as this is a shooting range where you stand still, not a boxing match. Another option could be given to place obstacles and/or moving targets in the area, this would give a more realistic feel to the shooting and I believe would greatly help newer players to work on their shooting skills without risking the annoying deaths out in the field and ruining their 9000 xp bounty. Circle targets could move around the field, or pop out of the floor/ceiling like old arcade gun games. The final option in the selection screen is the level modifier, so you can choose whether you want to practice on something lower level than you like a normal Vault of Glass Raid, or maybe the level 35 Prison of Elders run you're thinking about. If you have read this far then I thank you and will give you the real treat of this idea and the reason I truly want this in the tower, a DPS (Damage per Second) counter, yes that's right. While shooting an enemy or in my case a plain target, the system will measure the damage done. This is assuming you hit the target of course, and will divide that by the time passed while firing and reloading. Using this system, we can really compare guns to use on certain bosses or burn types and actually know that we are using our best guns. I know that I could spend hours testing all my guns and finally seeing whether or not fatebringer has more dps than every other primary in the game. So to those of you who read this and think this is something worth having, I would appreciate any feedback you guys have and I will be trying to get the word out there of my idea! P.S. For those of you who are going to say "People still play destiny?" or "This game is so dumb, why do you keep playing?" Just the fact that you are here reading the forums, shows that you still care about the game so stop acting like you don't.
